Dear Imran,

Jyotish Digest is a printed journal on jyotish published by Sri Jagannath Center

and edited by Sanjay Rath. It was launched initially as a monthly magazine last

year. Five issues were published from April - August, 2002. After that for a

variety of reasons we decided to switch over to a quarterly format. The 'new'

incarnation should hopefully be out by this month. The annual subscription

rates for the magazine are Rs. 200 and US $ 10. Take a look at some of the

papers printed in the back issues at http://.org.org

Best regards,

Sarbani

Respected Pandit Sanjay Rath, Namaste, Your this message increased my limited

knowledge alot. You discussed that Sri Ojha is amongst modern man who firstly

colleced and compiled the scattered work of Parashara, and reformed it into

comprehensiveable Sanskrit. Would you please inform when Sri Ojha did this

great task? and was there any one else who performed the same task with

anyother jyotish classic. One more thing, Sanjay jee, I have heard about

Jyotish Digest many times on this group. Is it a online magazine or on paper

published monthly? and How can I get this mag? Regards IMRAN Sanjay Rath

know the answer? In this list you have found various articles that are very

authoritative and vehement about the timing of the Mahabharata or the Ramayana.

The Mahabharata war is a vital timing for the period of Vyasa and from there we

can estimate the period of Parasara, which would be the time the Rig Veda was

recorded as Parasara is among the important seers to whom the Veda was

revealed. Unlike others, I have quietly kept on reading and analysing and

thinking about the correct chart for Krishna and the dating of the war. If we

take the presently accepted principle, then the Kali Yuga started in 3102 BC.

Krishna's sojourn on planet earth would be about 125 years before this date,

say 3227 BC. Thus the period of the recording of the BPHS would be about this

time. This is the most logical view based on accepted dates today.Another thing,

the BPHS which you read today WAS NOT WRITTEN by Parasara. This was written by

Sri Ojha. The sanskrit used by Parasara in the Rig Veda is very different from

tat used in the BPHS which seems to be of more recent origin. Shri Ojha

painstakingly went from house to house where the Pandits held individual

portions as "family treasure and secrets". These portions were purportedly

received by their ancestor as dowry from the head priest of Nepal. At least

this was compiled and arranged together based on 'available manuscripts' by

Sri Ojha (whom the world has forgotten). The rest you can easily understand

being a reasonable & intelligent person. We have a herculean task ahead and all

we do is waste precious time. I have certain proposals which shall be presented

in the forthcoming SJC West coast conference in the hope that we unite our

efforts in this search for the truth.RegardsSanjay RathAt 05:02 PM 13-03-03
