Guest guest
Dear Sarajitji, Thanks for that informative post. I just want to make one minor correction from what I read elsewhere. The duration of the kala depends on the sunrise and sunset times on a given day. For example, Rahukala on monday in summer will be longer than rahukala on a mondy in winter! All kala will have 1.5hrs each if and only if day and night have exactly 12 hrs on that day (Eg sunrise at 6 am and sunset at 6 pm). To give another example on monday, moon kala will be from 6.00 am if only if sunrise is at 6 am. While summer and winter times dont vary much in india (especially south india), it matters to a large extent in most other countries like EU or USA. I hope Sanjayji, PVRji, or Satyaji can comment more on this topic. regards, -Siva. vedic astrology, "Sarajit Poddar" <sarajit@s...> wrote: > || Jaya Jagannath || > Dear Ajoy and Swee, > > The answers are as follows: > > now i have another fundemental doubt? > 1)what is the imp of rahu kala(for eg wed-12.00pm t0 1.30pm) > Like Rahu Kala all the 8 planets excluding Ketu (mokshakaraka) have their kala. The kalas signify the atma of the Kalapurusha influencing us during the specific kala. Please see the table mentioned above. Everyday the day start with the kala of the day lord from 6:00 AM LMT. This is because the Kala doesn't follow the Sun... there is a mythology behind this to back it up.. which I will not discuss right now... it would be better if you take a book on the mythology of Sun and his Son's from his two wives, you will start understanding this. > > Now the subsequent kala is of the planet next to the day lord, which starts after 1.5 hrs. Thus there are 8 kalas (12hrs) in a day and 8 kalas (12hrs) at night. However the Kala which starts from the Sunset at 6:00 PM LMT, is that of the planet which is 5th from the day lord. If you draw a kalachakra with 8 spokes divided by 45 degrees, you will find the the fifth planet is placed on the opposite side of the day lord. The kala moves in a regular direction from the 5th lord thereafter, changing after 1.5 hrs. > > Lets calculate the Rahu Kala on Monday. Guest guest
Dear Sarajitji, Looks like I missed the LMT part. I agree with the 6am LMT. However, my other doubt still remains. If day and night are not of equal duration (12 hrs), how can we assign 1.5 hrs to all kala? Can you please provide the links to any SJC article/debate on this. Thanks, -Siva. vedic astrology, "Sarajit Poddar" <sarajit@s...> wrote: > || Jaya Jagannath || > Dear Siva, > > Thanks a lot for the appreciation. Guest guest
|| Jaya Jagannath || Dear Ajoy and Swee, The answers are as follows: now i have another fundemental doubt?1)what is the imp of rahu kala(for eg wed-12.00pm t0 1.30pm) Like Rahu Kala all the 8 planets excluding Ketu (mokshakaraka) have their kala. The kalas signify the atma of the Kalapurusha influencing us during the specific kala. This is the same reason why there is a close association of the kalachakra with the charakarakas. Now, there are something called ayanas. They are the directions showed by the planets. Like the Ayana of Jyotish is shown by the devaguru Brhaspati... Publications related works shall be shown by Merc.... war and agression will be shown by Mars and so on. The different Kalas and Ayanas Governed by the planets are as follows: Direction Kala Ayana E Sun Sun SE Mars Venus S Jupiter Mars SW Mercury Rahu W Venus Saturn NW Saturn Moon N Moon Merc NE Rahu Jupiter Now it is prohibited to take up activities related to a particular ayana during the associate kala. We see here is that the associate kala for the ayana of Jup is Rahu. This is why the Jupiterian work should not be initiated during the rahu kala.. However you would like to do something related to espionage or work on the weapons of mass destruction, then Rahu kala is the best time. For the same reason, you wouldn't like to do the work of Rahu during the kala of Merc, otherwise there will be a great setback... Rahu has to face the chakra of Vishnu. 2)how is it determined for a particular day . ? this doubt arises because of the absence of any logical order . for eg mon-7.30 to 9.00am but teusday it is 3.00pm to 45.30 p.m and so on. There is no absence of Logical order. The kala will occur in the following order: Planet Kala Moon 6:00-7:30 Rahu 7:30-9:00 Sun 9:00-10:30 Mars 10:30-12:00 Jupiter 12:00-13:30 Mercury 13:30-15:00 Venus 15:00-16:30 Saturn 16:30-18:00 Jupiter 18:00-19:30 Mercury 19:30-21:00 Venus 21:00-22:30 Saturn 22:30- 00:00 Moon 00:00-1:30 Rahu 1:30- 3:00 Sun 3:00- 4:30 Mars 4:30- 6:003) the same doubt for the gullika periods every day? Please refer to another mail I sent to the list on Calculation of Gulika as given by Pt. Sanjay Rath in Jaimini Sutras. I will elaborate on some other day. Guest guest
|| Jaya Jagannath || Dear Siva, Thanks a lot for the appreciation. There had been a debate on this topic too and this is why I said that we need to understand the importance of the mythology whereby Kala doesn't follow Sun whereas the Yama and Yamardha follow the Solar motion. This is why I purposefully wrote 6:00 AM LMT, which is the natural sunrise time and not the actual Sunrise time. This is what is taght by Gurudev Sanjayji. I reiterate my stand. There is no correction required to the Rahukala time based on the duration of the day and night and the actual Sunrise and Sunset times.
