Guest guest
Dear wonderful, loving brother Visti, Gurudevas and members, My question is in regard to the 9th house from the Arudha Lagna. In an article I read written by PVR Narasimha ao ji, he had mentioned that the 9th house from Arudha Lagna is a "crucial" house. Can someone throw more light on it. Guest guest
Dear Sarajit ji, Namaste, I have Saturn in the 9th (Taurus sign and Ascendant) from AL. What would this mean? During the Mercury-Saturn dasha I had huge losses on made during Mercury-Jup and Mer-Sat. Probably, it is not tell- all but just one of the factors. Please enlighten. Guest guest
|| Jaya Jagannath || Dear Sunit, 9th is the house of protection. 9th from the AL, will shows the way the AL is protected. AL is everything to do with the maya of the world and hence the 9th from AL shall show everything that will protect the image. One of the most important ways 9th protects the AL is with Money and hence any planet or for thar matter any upa-graha if placed in the 9th house, it will give a huge amount of wealth. Guest guest
Dear Sarajit, Thanks for your reply to my post on the 9th bhava from Arudha Lagna. I will be further grateful to you if you could write more about this so that I will know its proper significance in a chart. It will help us all too as Pundit Rath ji also terms this as a very important house. Thanking you. The day duration is divided into 8 parts (called Yama) and, beginning from the weekday lord, in the sequence of the days of the week, each planet owns one part. The eight part is owned by Gulika. Thus, Gulika is the ascendant for the time ending the part ruled by Saturn. For example on a Wednesday (day birth), Saturn owns the 4th part. If the day duration was exactly 12 hours and the Sunrise at exactly 6 a.m., Gulika would rise at the end of the fourth part i.e. 12 ´ 4/8 = 6 hrs after Sunrise or 12:00 Noon. Table (1.19) gives the ready reckoner for calculating Gulika. The additional information required would be the Sunrise/Sunset and Day/Night duration depending on day/night birth. > > > > Table 1.19: Gulika determination > > > > Weekday > Part of > > Saturn > Ending time of Saturn for > > 12 hr day > Part of > > Saturn > Ending time of Saturn for > > 12 hr night > > > Day > Birth > Night > > > > > Sunday > > > > Monday > > > > Tuesday > > > > Wednesday > > > > Thursday > > > > Friday > > > > Saturday > 7 > > > > 6 > > > > 5 > > > > 4 > > > > 3 > > > > 2 > > > > 1 > 10:30'+SR > > > > 9:30'+SR > > > > 7:30'+SR > > > > 6:00'+SR > > > > 4:30'+SR > > > > 3:00'+SR > > > > 1:30'+SR > 3 > > > > 2 > > > > 1 > > > > 7 > > > > 6 > > > > 5 > > > > 4 > 4:30'+SS > > > > 3:00'+SS > > > > 1:30'+SS > > > > 10:30'+SS > > > > 9:00'+SS > > > > 7:30'+SS > > > > 6:00'+SS > > Let us take a hypothetical case of birth on a Thursday; Sun Rise: 5:42' a.m. and day Duration Hr 12:36' > > > > Time of Gulika rising > > = S.R. + [(4:30') ´ Day Duration') ¸ 12] > > = (5:42') + [(4:30') ´ (12:36') ¸12] > > = 10: 25': 30" a.m. > > > > Now determine the ascendant for the place for birth at 10:25': 30" a.m. This is Gulika. > > _________________________= _______ > > > > I hope it helps > > > With Best Regards > > Sarajit > - > "Swee Chan" <swee@c...> > <vedic astrology> > Thursday, January 23, 2003 2:32 AM > RE: [vedic astrology] 9th bhava from Arudha Lagna--For Sanjayji > > > > Jaya Jagannatha > > Dear Sanjayji, > > > > Also know upagrahas to work like Saturn. Guest guest
|| Jaya Jagannath || Dear Rageswari, If no planet is present in the 9th from AL, then to some extent the 9th lord from the AL shall show the results. The special lagnas like the HL, SL, GL are to be treated in other ways and not like grahas or upagrahas. During the dasa of the planet associate them or the dasa of the sign having those is running, the good results will be shown in terms of money or power. Guest guest
|| Jaya Jagannath || Dear Rajesh, You are right. Nothing in Jyotish is Tell-all in itself and that is what make Jyotish a tough nut to crack and not programmable in computer language. So we have to judge everything based on all the factors influening a said thing. Now in your case Sat is very weak as placed in the Marana Karaka Avastha in the Lagna and also is the dispositor of the Rahu Mars combination in the 9th house marring the fortune in general. So the results get modified in your case. During the periods of the marana avastha planet the houses owned by it adversely affected. This is more intense as Sat is debilitated in the Navamsa, losing all the power what so ever, however position of exalted Sun with it good... association with the govt. people or the politicians would have been a great help to you. The most important bit is, whether the dasa lord is supportive or not, if not then the positive effects or the Antardasa lords will be greatly diminished and negetive effects will be enhanced. In this case Merc is although having a good combination with Sun in the 4th house, meaning that you will be putting your effort in the directions of Dhana (2nd lord), Gnana and authority (5th) and overall happiness at home (4th), the fruits will not be as good as they are placed in the 12th from AL causing losses. I hope I am clear, and thanks for bearning me for the delay in response. Please install Translit 98 to view to the slokas correctly. I am attaching the font here with for those who don't have it. ______ Text 3.4.2 upagraha yukte þrŸmanta× || Translation Even an Upagraha placed in it (ninth from Arudha Lagna) gives wealth and property. Purport The Upagrahas are basically certain degrees of the Zodiac calculated for the moment of birth. They are nine in numbers lorded by the nine planets from the Sun to Ketu and produce very distressful results. Calculation of Upagrahas Jataka Parijata upagraha bh˜numukhagrah˜Õþ˜ k˜l˜daya× kaÿ÷aphalaprad˜× syu | kramaþa× k˜laparidhidh¨m˜rdhaprah˜r˜hay˜ yamakaõ÷akakodaõýam˜ndip˜topaketava× || These are the Kala, Paridhi, Dhuma, Ardhaprahara, Yamakantaka, Kodanda, Mandi, Patha and Upaketu, belonging to the Sun etc. respectively. The following table gives the calculation of the Upagrahas. For Mandi, Yamakantaka, Ardhaprahara and Kala, the ascendant for the rising time after Sunrise (for day birth) or sunset (for night birth) has to be calculated. The rising time is for a 12 hour day/night and should be proportionately increased/decreased if the day/night is longer/shorter. Upagraha Rising in Hours* Upagraha Day Birth Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Mandi Arudha Prahara Yama Kantaka Kala D N D N D N D N 10:24’ 4:00 5:36’ 10:24’ 7:12’ 0:48’ 0:48’ 5:36’ 8:48’ 2:24’ 4:00 8:48’ 5:36’ 10:24’ 10:24’ 4:00 7:12’ 0:48’ 2:24’ 7:12’ 4:00’ 8:48’ 8:48’ 2:24’ 5:36’ 10:24’ 0:48’ 5:36’ 2:24’ 7:12’ 7:12’ 0:48’ 4:00 8:48’ 10:24’ 4:00 0:48’ 5:36’ 5:36’ 10:24’ 2:24’ 7:12’ 8:48’ 2:24’ 10:24’ 4:00 4:00 8:48’ 0:48’ 5:36’ 7:12’ 0:48’ 8:48’ 2:24’ 2:24’ 7:12’ *Rising time to be increased/decreased proportionally and added to Sun rise/Sun set. Dhuma = Sun (Long) = 133o20’ Vyatipat (or Pata) = 360o – Dhuma (Long) Paridhi + 180o + Pata (long) Chapa (or Kodanda) = 360o – Paridhi (long) Upketu = 16o40’ + Chapa (Long). Calculation of Gulika Gulika is an Upagraha and is called the child of Saturn. Table 1.19: Gulika determination Weekday Part of Saturn Ending time of Saturn for 12 hr day Part of Saturn Ending time of Saturn for 12 hr night Day Birth Night Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 10:30’+SR 9:30’+SR 7:30’+SR 6:00’+SR 4:30’+SR 3:00’+SR 1:30’+SR 3 2 1 7 6 5 4 4:30’+SS 3:00’+SS 1:30’+SS 10:30’+SS 9:00’+SS 7:30’+SS 6:00’+SS Let us take a hypothetical case of birth on a Thursday; Sun Rise: 5:42’ a.m. and day Duration Hr 12:36’ Time of Gulika rising = S.R. + [(4:30’) ´ Day Duration’) ¸ 12] = (5:42’) + [(4:30’) ´ (12:36’) ¸12] = 10: 25’: 30” a.m. Now determine the ascendant for the place for birth at 10:25’: 30” a.m. This is Gulika. ________________________________ I hope it helps With Best Regards Sarajit - "Swee Chan" <swee (AT) coppernet (DOT) zm> <vedic astrology> Thursday, January 23, 2003 2:32 AM RE: [vedic astrology] 9th bhava from Arudha Lagna--For Sanjayji > Jaya Jagannatha> Dear Sanjayji,> > Also know upagrahas to work like Saturn. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannath, Dear Lakshmi, Nice question. However, I don't see a clash here. Remember Raja Janaka, he was a king with all the paraphernalia, however he was unattached. So AK during its dasa will give him nice experiences of life, however, whether it protects the image too or not shall be based on how it is placed from the AL. So both the indications shall be present side by side. Guest guest
dear sarajit, i have a question here. if the planet in 9th from AL is badhakesh for lagna, also 7th lord from AL and aspects own depositor by both graha & rashi dristi - will it protect then also? jk - Sarajit Poddar vedic astrology Friday, January 24, 2003 2:22 PM [vedic astrology] Re: 9th bhava from Arudha Lagna Jaya Jagannath,Dear Lakshmi,Nice question. However, I don't see a clash here. Remember Raja Janaka, hewas a king with all the paraphernalia, however he was unattached. So AKduring its dasa will give him nice experiences of life, however, whether itprotects the image too or not shall be based on how it is placed from theAL. So both the indications shall be present side by side.Best regardsSarajit-<b_lakshmi_ramesh >To: <vedic astrology>Thursday, January 23, 2003 2:45 PM[vedic astrology] Re: 9th bhava from Arudha Lagna--For Sarajitji> Om Gurave Namah>> Namaste Sarajit,>> What if AK sits in the 9th house from AL?
