Guest guest
The date of Adi Sankara has been established conclusively as around 820AD. *** From what I know, all the 4 maths personally established by Adi Sankara agree with this date of 800CE ***. Kanchi Math was not established by AdiSankara, though some *think* it was. Such claims, asceibing even pre-buddist (how ridiculous!) dates to Adi Sankara were doing rounds even some time back, before being discarded by one and all. Looks like they are on a fresh cycle. There is NOT A SINGLE PROOF to these claims. All they do is end up confusing the masses. I have spoken to people that have read all tamil ancient works and did research on socio-religious history of tamil nadu, where Kanchi is. There is NOT - I repeat, NOT a single proof or even a hint that there was a math in Kanchi or anywhere else in TN established by Adi Sankara before 800AD. Though I very much respect the late Sri Chandrasekara Saraswati of Kanchi, it is a mystery how Kanchi math claims such dates of Adi Sankara and assumes itself an antiquity which is not substantiated by any shred of historical or literary evidence. I hope Dr. Satya who is part of Sringeri parambara can show more light about this. -Siva. vedic astrology, "venkateshwara_reddy <venkateshwara_reddy>" <venkateshwara_reddy> wrote: > > I apologize for sending these messages. > > vedic astrologyshankara02.DOC > > Date of Adi Sankara-Viswanatha Sastry, December 2002 can be had from > the above URL > > Skymaps by Planetarium related to Adi Shankara can be had from > vedic astrologyshankara01.DOC > > A related telugu article can be had from > http://www.andhrabhoomi.net/charitra11.html > > Mahabharata related skymaps by Planetarium at > http://www.hindunet.org/saraswati/colloquium/mahabharata01.htm > > > Rgds, > VR > > PS: Indologists conlcude that Adi Shankara ca. 800 CE. This evidence is quite easy to find. Your perhaps did not know this and are guessing. I am surprised you take this view in the light of your desire to get at the correct facts regarding the M-W dictionary.
