It would be of help to me to and possibly to others to clarify the picture if

simple examples of how you believe Monier-Williams prejudice may have distorted

his translations and notes to same of his Sanskrit - English Dictionary, rather

than to read your attempts to climb up to the same kind of prejudice as the one

you are complaining about.

I am incidentally well aware of the prejudice of the Indology camp and do not

support it at all.

I'll send you an e-mail direct as well, but I wanted to correct an impression

you have given on the list. It might put some people off.

The Monier-Williams Sanskrit-English Dictionary produced in India is a little

below the standard of the Oxford University Press version (identical text).

Some years ago they were of very poor quality and some may still be - for

example if anyone wants to purchase one they should check that the pages are

all there in order. However several suppliers (e.g. Munshiram Manoharlal,

Motilal Banarsidass, and probably others) have greatly improved the quality and

durability of their publications and I can recommend them (I'm involved in book

sales and have sold several hundred over the years). Many of the earlier

editions went into the dustbin, but very few today.
