Guest guest
Namaste friends, At the onset of BPHS, Parasara defined soumya and krura planets and these terms were translated as "natural benefic" and "natural malefic". Literally, "soumya" means soft-natured and "krura" means cruel. These terms clearly relate to the "inherent nature". So, whenever you see the terms "soumya" and "krura", they unambiguously mean the so-called natural benefics and natural malefics. While "soft-natured" and "cruel" (soumya and krura) are terms related to inherent nature, subha and paapa (auspicious and inauspicious) are terms related to functionality. Parasara used these terms when defining functional nature (functional benefics and functional malefics). Subha relates to functional beneficence and paapa related to functional malifecence. However, he also defined the "inherent functional nature" before defining ascendant-based functional nature and used the same terms with respect to a fixed assignment to planets (subha, madhyama, udaasina and paapa). So the waters are a little muddy with the words "subha" and "paapa". When these are used in BPHS stanzas, they could mean functional benefics and functional malefics OR natural benefics and natural malefics. We can only speculate. But there should be no controversy with the words "krura" and "soumya". Whenever they are used, they only relate to natural benefics and natural malefics. They are used in a lot of places in BPHS. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha PS: Tonight is the Full Moon night. This Full Moon is auspicious because exalted Jupiter falls on the Full Moon axis. It is a good idea to do Satya Narayana Vratam or just to pray to Satya Narayana with the simple mantras "Om SatyaNaaraayanaaya Namah" and "Om Tat Sat" tonight. Guest guest
Namaste, For predictive puropose (i.e. eloborating events and dashas), which category you consider? either natural benefic/malefic or functional benefic/malefic. In some cases (what I have seen is that), natural benefic/malefic grahas impact on native's nature and mental make-up, as compare to his destiny while functional acts more for making and shaping of fate/opportunities. For example; an affluent land lord may be rude, hypocrate and papi, on the contrast, a shelterless peasant of his dynasty may be kind, happy and a man of character. or vice virsa is also possible. Jesus was not a wealthy man, Gandhi never urged for luxuries, Socrate could not led a peaceful marital life...
