Pranaam Sanjay,

I may try to list out the 108 names of Jupiter with meanings later, after

the New Jersey workshop.

For now, I will give my favorite stotra - the twenty-five-name-hymn of

Jupiter that was taught by Sri Krishna. This is apparently from Vishnu

Dharmottara Purana.

I have uploaded it in mp3 audio format at

vedic astrologymantras

Go there and you'll see guru25.mp3 file. If there is a problem in playing it

by clicking on it, save it to your computer ("Save target as") and then play

it from your computer. I used only 16 kbps for coding and so it is only 123

kB.

I am enclosing two gif's showing the text in Devanagari (Sanskrit) script

(guru25_d.gif) and Roman script (guru25_r.gif). These are very small.

Meanings:

Sree bhagavaanuvaacha = the Lord (Krishna) said thus

brihaspatih = lord of wisdom

suraachaaryah = preceptor of gods

dayaavaan = merciful one

SubhalakshaNah = one with auspicious qualities

lokatrayaguruh = preceptor of the three worlds

sreeman = prosperous one

sarvajnah = omniscient one (who knows all)

sarvakovidah = skilled in all subjects

sarvesah = lord of all beings

sarvadah = one who gives all (or one who gives to all )

abheeshtah = the most desired, wished and prayed one

sarvajit = conqueror of all

sarvapoojitah = prayed by all

akrodhanah = one who does not become angry

munisreshthah = the greatest of all sages and monks

neetikartaa = one who creates ethics

guruh = the great/foremost/expansive one (also means a preceptor)

pitaa = father (giver of life)

viswaatmaa = the soul of the universe

viswakartaa = one who causes the universe

viswayonih = the womb (or the center of procreation) of the universe

ayonijah = one who is not born from a womb (i.e. born by himself)

bhoorbhuvassuvarom chaiva bhartaa = one who bears the three worlds

jeevah = the life force

mahaabalah = the mighty, strong and powerful one

The remaining text = These 25 auspicious names were praised by Vishnu when

he was sitting in Nanda's house. If one chants it in the morning , Jupiter

will be pleased. Whoever listens to this will no doubt be blessed with long

life and get the result of donating thousand cows, said Vishnu.

Best regards,

Narasimha

Dear Narasimha Ji,

Thanks for the Jupiter Mantra MP3.I think in the gif files the last two

lines of the mantra are missing.I like to read along with the MP3 to

learn correct pronunciation.Hope you will look into the same.

With regards,

Jagmeet
