Dear Mr Sundeep,

Thanks for posting those queries, from the last few days I have been thinking of

the same, almost 80% of the questions that you have put forward. I await

anxiously some light from the Gurus on this.

A very important question that bogs my mind is does" the soul have any purpose"

or "is the purpose of the soul only to unite back with the source", is that the

only desire of the soul.

Is the souls purpose different in different lifetimes or is their

departmentalisation here - the core purpose to unite back with GOd and external

purpose whatever the soul decides/is given in this lifetime.

Maybe I have deviated from the first question that i had asked about AK, but i

feel their is distinct relation here with AK and a better understanding of all

these would make my basics i.e of a student much stronger.

Thanks

Best

Sunil John

[vedic astrology] Deeper questions on AK - Robert, Visti, PVR, Gauranga, others

Can one or more Gurus, in a single post, offer us a complete picture of

Atmakaraka. Although I have learned a lot from the Atmakaraka thread, there are

many gaps in my understanding, and probably in a lot of other novice and perhaps

even advanced readers' understandings. Let me outline some of the gaps:1) First,

starting from the basics, what is Atmakaraka - I'm not looking for Atmakaraka

identification (graha at highest degree), but a meaning - if it represents the

Atma as you all say, and as the Atma is completely pure (as I understand it),

it can have no imperfections or desires, INCLUDING the desire to be reborn.

Isnt it simply just a witness to the repeated rebirths? The driver for the

rebirth is the karma of the individual, no? So, since you all say that

Atmakaraka is the king of the chart, and also that it's representing planet

identifies the area of learning for the individual, you seem to be attaching

motive to the Atma. Since that cannot be possible, the Atmakaraka must signify

the Atma PLUS some karma-containing-entity that contains the motive or at least

the selectivity. Is that the mind, ego, intellect or what? It must be something

that accompanies the Atma throughout the repeated births.2) Does Atmakaraka not

represent the reason you were born? When you make statements like "placement of

Atmakaraka is dusthanas lead to regression in spiritual advancement etc", I get

confused. You are telling me that the Atmakaraka chose a life in which it's own

objectives are not going to be fulfilled? Looks to me like more than one driver

of the same car! If you say that it chose a particular life, but then due to

the person getting intoxicated by his senses a contradictory path was lived,

then I think - if you can see that in a chart, then wasnt this known to the

Atmakaraka at birth?3) Does the Atmakaraka signifying planet change in repeated

births, or does it remain the same? If it changes, is the change a natural

progression (from benefics to malefics for e.g.(since you say malefic AKs

signify more advanced souls)). What influences the change, if it occurs?4)

Since the Shastiamsa shows the previous births, does the current Atmakaraka (as

identified from Rasi) have a meaning in the Shastiamsa?Thank you very much in

advance for any and all efforts at clarification,SundeepArchives:

According to my understanding the Atmakaraka would indicate the "state" of the

sould, so to say, in his journey back (or away) from Bhagavan. The final

purpose of spirituality is incely expressed by Jupiter being exalted in Cancer.

Jupiter is Jeeva. Cancer is lorded by the Moon, indicating Bhagavan Sri Krishna.

So when the Jeeva regains his lost relationship with Krishna then both are happy

(Moon is exalted in Taurus and Venus is exalted in Pisces).

Also Gita and Upanishads say that the soul is indestructible and never ceases to

exist. Therefore its constitution cannot be changed. But the chitta/ or the

consciousness, the soul's self-illuminating energy may be changed. This is like

oil on water. They do not mix but the oil takes up the form of the water

surface. So several Upanishads mention the five levels of advancement of the

consciousness, especially Taittiriya Up. should be mentioned. I will send the

appropriante protion in a separate mail.

The bottom line is that the AK always directs the Jeeva towards Bhagavan.

However the soul has free will, and either he is willing to surrender or not.

This is correctly indicated by Robert Guru as coming from the relationship

between the AK and the Ishta Devata. Also timing is made from Drgi dasa for

this. So this is the sole purpose of the soul, but AK may also idncate his

state of consciousness {honestly I can't give a reference on how to map the

five stages of consciousness (annamaya, praanamaya, manomaya, jnaanamaya and

vijnaanamaya) to astrological indications, but it may be there}. However the

Jeeva may have other desires as well besides surrendering to God (or instead of

it). This is indicated for example by retrograde planets or retrograde Ak in

particular. If any other Chara Karaka are retrograde, look for the same in that

relationship. It may also indicate unfulfilled duties besides selfmade desires.

Also the area where the person will be focused is indicated by the AK house

position in Rasi and D-charts. This focus may or may not be helpful to his

advancement depending on other factors connected to the AK as mentioned in

other mails in this thread.

And finally check the AK-s relation to the nodes as karmic control planets both

in Jataka and Gochara. This may give a lot of clue on hiw is he entangled or

liberated.
