Guest guest
Hello PVRji and others at SJC, The CD prices are unaffordable for most students. It is perfectly understandable that CD prices should cover the cost of making, inventoring and distributing it and perhaps a bit more. However, setting astronomical prices for CDs may not help generate revenue as SJC cant realize economy of scale. Price inflation may be a lose-lose situation for both the students and SJC. This is just my opinion. It may or may not coincide with reality. regards, -Siva. vedic astrology, "Narasimha P.V.R. I heard the same from some students recently. If one were to buy all the CD's, it would cost more than attending the live classes and this is unfair. After all, we are a service-minded non-profit organization. > > You told me to talk to Lakshmi. Of course, I have already talked to the nice people running the SJC organization about the CD prices. There was a lot of friction and heated argument. You said "Sanjay himself said this to me" regarding the rip-off thing. However, a gentleman at SJC organization said something else. He wrote: "Sanjay set the price and personally I agree with the price". All this is utterly confusing to me. > > I tried to understand the motivation behind the price and asked how much was earned and spent during the summer seminars and how much was spent for the recording equipment. Unfortunately, all these details are not yet revealed and so I don't know what is a reasonable price without anybody losing money. > > The bottomline is that my feedback led to a big argument. I stood my guard that the CD's are unaffordable to several sincere students and wanted to understand all the economics and find the price for which nobody at SJC loses any money. I was accused of being "cruel" and a gentleman at SJC accused: "I'm getting the clear message that if everything isn't done according to Narasimha, it is somehow not right. Is this what you want? I don't work well with that style and neither do others." > > I registered my strongest protest to Sanjay at the CD prices and decided to move on. I have already generated a lot of bad will for myself at SJC. SJC is a nascent organization today and I was sad to be seen as somebody who was trying to destabilize it. Hopefully the right sense will prevail on all and SJC will grow into an organization that I (and other like-minded people) can be proud of. I greatly value the services of Brendan, Lakshmi and others to SJC and hope the friction caused due to the CD price argument will finally lead to the good of the organization. > > Gauranga, I do appreciate your mail. It is a ripoff. Sanjay himself said this to me on the Hyderabad conference recently where we were missing you very much. Please tell Laksmi to put all the classes in MP3 on one or 2 CDs and sell those $50-100/cd. Not that you get one class on 3 cdes for $300. > > Thank you. > > Yours, > > Gauranga das
Guest guest
Hello all, I suppose power, politics, and money enter into all things. Even the Divine? I have been taught that money must not enter into my channeling of the divine light of knowledge and my assistance to others. This is most distressing to me. You are my teachers. I very humbly apologize for my outburst. Blessings to you all Jim --- "schinnas <schinnas" <schinnas wrote: > Hello PVRji and others at SJC, > The CD prices are unaffordable for most students. > It is perfectly > understandable that CD prices should cover the cost > of making, > inventoring and distributing it and perhaps a bit > more.
