Guest guest
Dear Narasimha, Sorry for the delayed reply. I was very busy. >If lagna was in Rohini at midnight, Sun must be around Leo. On >Krishna Ashtami, Moon must be behind Sun by 84-96 degrees. So Moon >can only be in Aries or Taurus or Gemini. Thus Moon cannot be in >Abhijit asterism. The asterism being Abhijit could mean that the Yoga as in Panchanga should be Abhijit? Otherwise, there would be no meaning to it. But then, does Abhijit here means an intercalary point between Harshana and Vajra Yoga? That means Sun and Moon should be at about 18° Leo and Taurus resp. >Could you kindly quote the Sanskrit verse in question? The book I read it in has no Sanskrit verses, only English translation. It is a version by Prof. J.L. Shastri. I found an interesting chart with the Moon and Sun at practically 18°20' Taurus-Leo around midnight on July 21st, 1307 BC. It is Krsna Ashtami of Sravana month, Balava Karana, Vajra Yoga and with Saturn and Mars in Devalokamsa. In BHPS Parasara Muni states that in order to have strength the planet should be in own sign, sign of exaltation or mooltrikona, or in the signs owned by the kendre lords from AL. This last one usually is dropped at present, however the sage did indeed count those signs as giving strength as well. Why? In any case, using this criteria, Saturn and Mars do create Devalokamsa in this chart. What do you think? Using Skyglobe, I found the Saptarsi were indeed lined up with Magha around this time, as explained in the Bhagavata Purana and also at the end of the Brahmanda Purana. There is more interesting play of number of years, but I'll write about this later. Your sishya, Dhira Krsna dasa
