A vipreet raj yoga explains Lennon's success. Here are some comments from

Vedic Astrology and the Beatles:

" But fame and fortune escaped John and the Beatles during John's Rahu-Rahu

period. What really sent John on his way was the Jupiter sub period of the

Rahu major. John actually entered the Jupiter sub period in December of

1962. That fall the Beatles had recorded their first album. By February of

'63 the title song " Please Please Me " was the number one song in Britain-

it was John's composition. Later that year, their single " I want to Hold

Your Hand " was selling 10,000 per hour in NYC alone!

Jupiter is a functional malefic as the lord of two quadrants. He occupies

the evil eighth with debilitated Saturn, the lord of another evil house, the

sixth. So the question is, how did the minor Jupiter period do so much for

John if Jupiter is so afflicted? The answer becomes obvious when one

understands the nature of vipreet raj yoga. Remember that a raj yoga is a

yoga for power and fame. Parashara Muni basically defines a vipreet raj yoga

as some combination of the lords of the following evil houses, the third,

the sixth, the eighth or the twelfth, in any of the three dushthans: the

sixth, the eighth or the twelfth. The idea is that an overwhelming influence

of evil lords kills the evil of the house, thereby producing an opposite

effect, i.e., good. That is what " vipreet " means- opposite. It is

something akin to multiplying two negative numbers against each other in

algebra; a positive number is produced.

The type of fabulous results produced could not be explained by navamsha

position or retrograde motion; we saw in the chapter dealing with the

navamsha that navamsha position is not strong enough to counteract a strong

indication in the main chart. The only tenable explanation is that of the

vipreet raj yoga, which just happens to be the case. This is a very

straightforward understanding and in keeping with the basic tenants of

Parashari astrology.

The fact that Jupiter ( and Saturn ) occupy a parama maitra ( supremely

friendly, excellent results ) star from the Moon is not enough to overturn

the results of Jupiter's evil situation and give such great results. After

all, placement in parama maitra stars are not uncommon at all, even in

relation to well-situated planets. What to speak of this situation, where

the planet in parama maitra already has two strikes against it. The vipreet

raj yoga remains the only plausible explanation for the tremendous results

that the Jupiter-major period gave, and does not require any stretching of

the facts.

It should be kept in mind that the major lord provided fertile terrain for

these results because Rahu occupies Virgo, not only a sign of musical

inclination, but a very favorable sign for Rahu; Parashara equates Virgo as

being essentially Rahu's own sign. Although raj yoga results hadn't been

given when the major period began ( Rahu-Rahu ), this can be justified

because the minor period of the planets causing the vipreet raj yoga,

Jupiter and Saturn, had not yet begun. That Jupiter was transiting the

second house should not be lost signt of either; the second house Jupiter

transit is extremely productive of financial results. Jupiter was the

central planet at that time because his sub period was in vogue. The fact

that a favorable transit was supporting the results is instructive."

I'll attach the whole commentary to his chart. It appeared in its original

form in The Astrological Magazine back in March of '91.
