Guest guest
Vyam Vyasa-devaya Namah .......................... I will tell you what Sanjayji has advised for Varahamihira members. 1. BPHS (translation by Pt. Sharma) 2. Jaimini's Upadesa Sutras (Transalation by Pt. Sanjay Rath) 3. Crux of Vedic Astrology by Pt. Sanjay Rath 4. Jataka Parijata (Translation by Shastri) 5. Saravali 6. Prasna Marga Apart from these, you may want to get these aswell: 7. Integrated Approach to Vedic astrolgy - Sri. PVR. 8. Books on Different Dasas by Pt. Sanjay Rath. However, if you are a beginner like me, there are lots of tutorials on the internet to familiarize with the general terms, concepts and approach before beginning a formal serious study. If you arent that accessible to Internet, buy Dr. BV Raman's Hindu Predictive astrology and How to Judge a horoscope. In my personal opinion, if you are totally new to astrology (like I was 4 weeks back), do research on the internet. You will find many simple, good tutorials by K.N. Rao, Goravani, etc., which will help you get familiarized with the terms and may lead you to a guru. After you get a guru, on an auspicious day, sincerely start learning astrology. At that stage, buy and use the books mentioned above. You may also find your preference for one of the different approaches by various gurus. For example, after going through materials and approach of Gurujs at Sri. KN Rao's website (www.journalofastrology.com) and sjvc, I decided to go with sjvc. You need to experiment. -Siva. vedic astrology, "sp" <shirishpandey> wrote: > Dear all > > can anybody suggest some good astrology course and also books? > > Can anybody tell me where i can get the following book : > The Astrology for the Seers by Dr. David Frawley > > t & r > > sp

Guest guest
Dear sp, I think you can start with "Learn Hindu Astrology Easily" by KN Rao. After that, read Dr.Raman's as well as KN Rao's books before you start reading classics like BHPS etc.. You can get "Astrology for seers" from amazon.com but I would not recommend it. (my personal opinion is that Dr.Raman's and KN Rao's books are much better ). "Light on Life" by Hart defaouw is a good book. I am assuming that you are a beginner . Guest guest
Sorry to take a few days to come back to you regarding KN Rao's book 'Learn Hindu Astrology Easily'. I tried to teach a course using this book a few years ago and found it contained so many errors, almost on every page, that it was viturally useless. I am very surprised that you recommend it. There are many better books. I would suggest Vault of the Heavens by Ernst Wilhelm, Fundamentals of Astrology by Ramakrishna Bhat, Learn Astrology the Easy Way by GS Kapoor and I agree about Light on Life by Hart de Fouw. there are other good books as well. Guest guest
Dear Gordon, I agree with you on the errors in that book. But most of them are printing mistakes. I think that if the tables (very important) /minor errors etc.. are corrected by referring to some other book, this book would be excellent. The main thing that I loved about this book was that it teaches a systematic way of approaching horoscope analysis (PAC - DARES) and with a lot of examples. These two factors in a beginners book are very rare. I think that KN Rao should publish an errata on the web for this book. Guest guest
Please refer to the reply I gave to Dilip just now. I agree that an errata would be of help, but the book needs to be revised as well, as for a beginner it jumps over various stages of explanation and is not very easy to follow, espcially in the important PAC DARES area. Thanks Gordon
