Guest guest
Hi, In his notes on 1.2.68 and 1.2.69 of Jaimini's sutras, Sanjay states the following: 1. Benefics in the 12th from the D-9 lagna take the native's soul to an auspicious world. 2. Malefics in the 12th indicate expenses on illegitimate activities. 3. Ketu in the twelfth gives moksha. Would it be fair then to conclude that Ketu isn't considered a malefic? Actually, I haven't for a while now understood how he who's the karaka for anything as auspicious as moksha could be deemed a malefic in the first place. I wonder what then is the legitimacy of the so-called 'afflictions' of Ketu... Could someone help? Ramapriya hubli
Guest guest
Hi Ramapriya, It should follow the dictum, "a malefic in a malefic house is good". 12th house being the fag end of a person's zodiac which connotes things beyond this world, apart from other significations. Ketu's mythological character indicates things related to moksha. Hence, the indicativeness of Ketu in 12th for moksha. Guest guest
Afaik, Saturn and Mars in either the 8th or 12th are bad. Though some say Sat in 8th does good to the longevity of the native, the kantaka thing doesn't go away either. You must also have heard of Rahu's games while in the 8th or 12th. I don't remember reading the dictum you've quoted. I think that, as long as they aren't functional yogakarakas, the best placement for malefics is either in their own houses, or be combust so that they're ineffective. Guest guest
Hi Ramapriya, Thanks for that. Yes, I had read that Ketu takes on the characteristics of the conjoining planet. I have an interesting situation in my chart where Ketu is conjoined Mars in Mercury's Virgo lagna. Mars is the worst malefic for Virgo, plus Ketu sitting there as well forming a Pisach yoga, its been quite a life. Lots of Karma paid back. But my semi-sarpa yoga definitely broke at exactly 45 and my life got better from then on in many ways. What's even more interesting is how one's AK needs its time in the sun (to coin a phrase). I am currently in my AK (Sun)'s dasha now and I am once again being tested to the hilt. It only seems to make me stronger and more determined to stick to the path of dharma. I have an interesting chart of a woman in my country who is a multi-millionairess in her own right (she made it herself), and it's one of the most powerful charts in many ways I have yet seen. If anybody is interested in discussing this chart with me I would enjoy that because there is some doubt as to the exact time of birth and according to certain factors, it seems clear to me that they are about an hour off. I am trying to work to a more correct estimation of time. If anybody does throw this chart, I am convinced that Ve/Mo should be in eighth house with Sag lagna. Here is the birth data: 3rd July, 1954 Estimated time of birth 5pm Roodepoort, Transvaal, South Africa Divorced seven years ago, unable to conceive children. She has just gone into SadeSathi, has mangala dosha, Me/Ma/Ju/Sa all retrograde and Me/Ju combust. Quite a mixture to handle and yet she is as cool as a cucumber. Best wishes Robyn - Ramapriya D vedic astrology Saturday, September 21, 2002 6:36 AM Re: [vedic astrology] A Ketu clarification needed Dear Robyn, Both Rahu and Ketu act like the lord of the houses they're in, if alone, or else they behave like the ones they're with. Guest guest
Dear Robyn, I am testing a hypothesis before accepting the findings. To see how many younger coborns one should have, see in which Nakshatra 3rd lord is placed. And the see where(Nakshatra) this Nakshatra lord is placed is placed. As soon as Ketu's Nakshatra arrives, it is end. If Two Nakshtras came in the process, two younger coborns are indicated and if three, three are indicated. To explain it, if 3rd lord is in the Moon's Nakshatra and Moon happens to be placed in Ketu's Nakshatra, it should give two younger coborns. Apply it on 5th lord for number of children. Other members may also test it on charts and share their findings. On Ketu in Lagna, I will write again. Guest guest
Dear Shiv Chadha, It works for children for me - 5th lord is in Ketu's nakshatra and I do not have any children. 3rd lord is however in Rohini, moon's nakshatra. Moon is in Dhanishta, mars' nakshatra. Mars is in Mrgasira, its own nakshatra. In this case, there appears to be no end. I have two younger siblings. Guest guest
Vyam Vyaasadevaaya Namah Dear Shiva, There must be some misunderstanding in this calculation, as this would need planets in Ketu's Nakshetra to end the sibling count. And not everyone has planets in Aswini, Magha or Moola Nakshetras. How about counting ammount of Nakshetras theres between the Planet and Ketu's Nakshetra? Best wishes, Visti. - Shiv Chadha vedic astrology Wednesday, September 25, 2002 4:45 AM Re: [vedic astrology] A Ketu clarification needed Dear Robyn, I am testing a hypothesis before accepting the findings. Best Wishes Shiv Chadha - Robyn vedic astrology Saturday, September 21, 2002 8:44 AM Re: [vedic astrology] A Ketu clarification needed Dear Shiv, If Ketu is like, as you so aptly put it, "full stop", what is your understanding of Ketu in lagna? There are so many differing opinions of this placement, I would be really interested to know what you think with all your past reading on the subject. As you know, I have Ketu in lagna. thanks in advance Robyn - Shiv Chadha vedic astrology Saturday, September 21, 2002 5:13 AM Re: [vedic astrology] A Ketu clarification needed Dear members, Ketu is lower half of Rahu Asura's body and symbolised by serpent's tail. Guest guest
Dear Visti and Prashant, There is some homework required on this subject before final conclusions can be given. Guest guest
before putting a full stop to this theory of siblings & children, i must tell u it doesn't depend only on ketu. i have the full theory( supposed to be) it prescribes some other conditions also, but i must confess that even after that also, it doen't have fair accuracy. prashant Shiv Chadha wrote: Dear Visti and Prashant, There is some homework required on this subject before final conclusions can be given.
