Guest guest
Gentlepeople: Background: I am having some serious problems in my life, especially my marital life--two divorces, last one very nasty. The problems begin with the begining on my Mars mahadasa and Mars is well-placed in my horoscope. I had asked for help regarding this matter and posed this question to some of the greatest astrologes-- "Why did my miseries began with the beginning of Mars mahadasa and what blemish in my horoscope is causing problems with my spouse." Responses: Rohini Ranjan Bose (Great one, his interpretation of horoscope is the greatest I've ever seen): He says, "your horoscope reflects that you've hurt a young woman in this life or your prior life. To rectify this problem, fast on Fridays and volunteer your time (not money) to help young destitue women." Narshimha (Great one): He says, "your mool-dasa of Rahu is the cause of your problems, not your Mars mahadasa and Mars in not to blame. To rectify this problem, feed Brahmins, donate cow to Brahmins, chant the mantra of Atmakaraka." Katti Narhari(Greatness in process): He says, "your mars is afflicted in the upa-padas. To rectify, fast on Saturdays." Siva (Greatness in process, he usually posts on the junior board): He used bhava kundli and figured out that Mars in bhava was causing the problems. These are the astrologers who've attempted to help me out of the kindness of their heart. Now, here is one whom I've paid for consultation: Don't want to use his name (One of the leading astrologers in India): He says,"mar is not the problem, the antardasa of malefic planets caused both divorces." To rectify, wear kavach of Mars, do pooja of Shani. It's one thing getting diverse reponse from illitrate idots wearing orange colored clothes who have their astrology shops at every corner in India; however, it is SHOCKING that "highly educated" ones noted above don't seem to have a consistency in the reading. Is it possible that the astrologers are trying to attribute problems in someone's life to ANY blemish in the horoscope they can discover, AFTER THE FACT? Is is possible to make a prediction? Are they capable of making a prediction? Is the horoscope a reflection of an individual's past, present and future? Can some astrologer make predictions about my past that are so true that I become a believer of his/her prediction and guidance about my future? I began learning astrology recently to understand astrologically what was happening in my life. I've bought books by Earns Wilhelm, Ronnie Dreyer, Narshima Rao, Sanja Rath and read almost every article by the great ones like Rohini Ranjan Bose and Sanjay Rath. The point I'm making is that I'm not a wolf in a sheep's hide attacking astrology in the name of learning it. However, the deeper I go, the more disillusioned I become. As to using remedies like gem stones and Kavach, I just couldn't understand how a gemstone can rectify a blemish in one's chart. Planets except the Sun and Moon don't even have rays that could fall on the gemstone to have any effec. And, how can a piece of metal with some numbers engraved on it change my karma? Mr. Rohini Ranjan Bose is the only one who has asked me to throw away all the Kavach and the gemstones and try to influence my astrolocical blemishes with karma (not just financial donation, but doing the actual deeds). -- This makes sense. In addition to the questions and doubts I've noted above, I have one more question on "mantras." How can chanting mantras of a particular planet or atmakarka influence the karmic reserves of an individual? Hope the great one as well as the learners and the readers take my concerns seriously and respond. My birth data is June 14, 1967, 5.30 pm, Bombay, India. PS: I'm not attacking Vedic astrology or astrologers, these are my genuine doubts. M.Desai
Guest guest
I do not want to comment on the other issues raised by you since I am very young to this science. However, I would like to comment as a physicist and engineer that although only sun and moon actually have rays reaching us (actually only the sun's rays as moon only reflects), there is a enormous force called gravity which planets like Jupiter have in abundance, and this is the force I believe that can influence the fields (electromagnetic...like all of life's forces) around us and those created by metals or gems on our bodies. Learned gurus pls correct me if I am on wrong track. Guest guest
Viraj: I did think about the gravitational fields when I was writing my original mail, but dropped it as the mail was getting too long. Viraj, I too have an engineering background. The gravitational pull of Jupiter is enormous but the pull is beyond the bounds of Earth. Earth is revolving around the Sun due to SUN's gravitational pull like a sling shot. Ya, Jupiter's gravity is indeed helping Earth as it does suck in the cosmic debris and comets that are rushing towards Earth and hence sheild the Earth from bombardment of large comets. But, most definitely, none of the planets exert its influence on the Earth except the Sun and the moon (not a planet, it's a satellite of the Earth). If any of the planetary gravitational forces were to reach Earth, the Earth would be pushed into a chaos. There would be hurricanes, Tsunamis and earthquakes of gigantic proportions on Earth. Viraj, I posed my question after careful consideration and thought and the reason I got thinking about it is becuase Mr. Ranjan, Mr. Rath, Narshima are highly educated for a fact and are astrological masters for a fact and their predictions/readings about the same topic doesn't bear any resemblence or consistency to each other. PS: I was discussing with my friend who is doing her Phd. at University of California at Berekely and we calculated that she had read at least 5,000 books since beginning school and I had read over 3,000 books in my lifetime. The point I'm making is that my questions and concerns are not out of blind ignorance or prejudice against astrology, but a well-thought process. M. Guest guest
I have heard this explanation before, but it is contradictory to logic. We experirnce the highest gravity & electromagnetic field from earth. The gravitational force exerted on us by all other planets is very very negligible due to the distance. Our birth location and time is a divine indicator of our past karma. planetary positions are indicators of our karma. Just my humble opinion. -Siva. vedic astrology, "virajpat" <virajpat> wrote: > I do not want to comment on the other issues raised by you since I am > very young to this science. > However, I would like to comment as a physicist and engineer that > although only sun and moon actually have rays reaching us (actually > only the sun's rays as moon only reflects), there is a enormous force > called gravity which planets like Jupiter have in abundance, and this > is the force I believe that can influence the fields > (electromagnetic...like all of life's forces) around us and those > created by metals or gems on our bodies. > Learned gurus pls correct me if I am on wrong track. > Viraj > > vedic astrology, "monmuk111" <monmuk111> wrote: > > Gentlepeople: > > > > Background: > > > > I am having some serious problems in my life, especially my marital > > life--two divorces, last one very nasty. > > > > The problems begin with the begining on my Mars mahadasa and Mars > is > > well-placed in my horoscope. Guest guest
To add to my previous observation, One may argue that outer planets may exert some other rays/force/influence that are not yet identified by the scientific world. However, that argument doesnt hold water since, physical impact of planets on all people on earth at one location at one instant of time will be the same. Is astrology a science as in the true sense of the english word 'science'? I guess not. Astrology is a divine knowledge that gives us indications as to probablistic effects of our past karma and/or present karma (prasna). Astrology is mostly supported via emphirical evidence using justifiably large and random data sets. Even in that case, there are many issues not explained in astrology or contrary to astrological issues (which are sometimes explained using present good/bad karma in this birth). Even nadi predictions on palm leaves (available in places like Vaitheeswaran Koil), which are believed to be written by Maharishis themselves are not 100% accurate. There are too many unknows and inherent contradictions in astrolgoy and I believe to be good in astrology one requires some divine blessing or power of intuition in addition to knowledge and application of the principles stated in classics. -Siva. vedic astrology, "virajpat" <virajpat> wrote: > I do not want to comment on the other issues raised by you since I am > very young to this science. Guest guest
Dearest Siva: I agree that astrology is a divine knowledge that gives us indications about the effects of karma. However, the issue I raised was--why are different astrologers coming up with different indications while reading the same chart? Shouldn't they be seeing a common denominator in the chart? Why is their reading so diverse and inconsistent? They are in fact masters of Vedic astrology and BPHS is the foundation that all of them have studied. I'm keeping away from modification of Vedic astrology like like the "Systems Approach" as then I'd be comparing apples with oranges as Dr. Choudhry noted. But, all the astrologers I mentioned including yourself practise the traditional form of Vedic astrology; henece, there has to be a consistency. It appears that the astrologers are manipulating their readings to fit the events that have occurred already in a person's life. And, because they're manipulating it, there is no consistency. Had astrology been a science based on vedic postulates, the readings would be consistent, don't you agree? Thanks for replying.
