Functional nature of Mars for Scorpio lagna (Lagna Lord)

That must be Earnst Wilhelm's view and not Parasara's.

 

The relevant quote from Parasara is:

 

"sitajna sanayah papah subhou guru nisakarou |

surya chandramasaveva bhavetam yogakarakou ||

kujah samah sitadyascha papa maraka lakshanah |

evam phalam cha vijneyam vrischikodayajanmanah ||"

 

He says "kujah samah", which clearly means "Mars is neutral". There

is no way one can interpret "samah" as "malefic".

 

So there is no discrepancy between what Satyacharya taught and what

Parasara taught. The discrepancy is in the understanding of some

scholars.
