For example, Venus is the lord of the ascendant and the eighth house for the Libra ascendant. Hence Venus cannot be an auspicious planet for Libra. Please throw light on this matter. The only planet that has so far given me immense hardships is Venus (Libra Ascendant). That's why I raised the query about the nature of the Lagna Lord. Mars is the lagna lord and the 6th house lord. It is located in the 11th house in Virgo. It's in the "youth" awastha. All hell broke loose as soon as I began the Mars mahadasa in April 1998. Satycharya says Mars is neutral for Scropio ascendants. Parashar says mars is a malefic for Scorpio ascendants (taken from Earnst Wilhelm's book). I think Parashara is correct in calling mars a functional malefic even though it owns the lagna as in my personal experience, mars just turned my life up side down. Whatever moon mahadase had given me 10 years, mars took away in 2 years and I'm hoping it doesn't go from bad to worst as I still have 3 years left in the mahadasa. I heard that the lord of the 11th house is the most malefic planet for all ascendants. But the 11th house is a good place for any planet to occupy. Is this correct? 2 11th house is the house of acquisition/profit (Labha) . How come the lord of the house of labha is a malefic? 3. Marakadhipati Mars (Lord of the 2nd and 7th houses) is also in Leo. But Mars Dasa passed without any incident. During Mars Bhukti in Rahu Dasa I was blessed with a son. However wrt AL it becomes a RYK as it owns 4/9th houses. What can I expect from such a Ve/ra conjunction. (Also sa is in 7th house). Currently I am running Ke/Mo periods and in middle of 7.5yrs Sa transit. This will be followed by 19 years of Ve dasa. I do remember you saying that debilitated nodes are well placed in Kendra. Mangal is in the house of punishment (6th and 11th houses are houses of punishment). Further, Mangal is in enimical sign, and for giving effects of Yuva Avasta it must be strong in shadbal. Lagna lord can never be malefic for a person itself, but if weak or afflicted than it is another thing. Itself, lagnesh is never malefic. Navamsa and other varga positions, posible sandhis, enemical dristis etc must be taken into account. One cannot say that lagnesh dasha will be good, because lagnesh is good for a person.
