Planetary strengths, Benefic or malefic results

Dear All,

 

Please note that i am giving some points here based on what i read

and understood from it. I am a begineer only and so please read the

below points keeping that in mind.

 

I would like to listen from the Gurus like Visti on this.

 

basically the various terms mentioned here are used for different

purposes in the examination of the horoscope.

 

Strength of a Planet and its usage:

I read the following in "Prashna Marg" by B.V.Raman. It specifies

the following

 

a) A planet is strong if it is

 

1) exalted

2) Own house,

3) friendly house

4) neutral house

5) inimical sign

6) debilitated

 

1) is the highest strength and 6) is the least strength.

 

A planet if it is a benefic planet can do maximum good if it is 1)

and least good if it is 6)

 

A planet if it is a malefic (due to ownership) can do maximum bad

if it is 6) and do least bad if it is 1).

 

A planet which is capable of doing both good and bad (due to

ownership, owner of 6th house and say 9th house) will do good only if

it is strong. It will do bad only if it is bad.

 

So we got to see from Rasi and NAVAMSA chart the strength of a

planet and find out where it stands in the above list. This is

because the strength of a planet in RASI can get cancelled by its

position and vice-versa in the NAVAMSA chart (the reason why vimsopak

bal gives very high weightage to Rasi, Navamsa).

Shadbala/Vimsopak Bal/Ashkatavarga:

1)Shadbala is used to determine the strength of a planet and it is

used to determine which planet plays a major role for yogas. Assume

that a yoga is caused by two or more planets which planet's influence

wil be felt mroe can be found out by this shadbala.

 

2) Vimsopak bal is the overall auspiciousness of the planet. It tells

the planet's auspiciousness in the rasi and the other divisional

charts. It is the overall effectiveness of a planet.

 

3) Ashtakavarga is the ability of the planet to operate with other

planets in the horoscope.

 

Please read an article of P.V.Narasimha who has very clearly

explained about the usage of Vimsopak bal, ashktakavarga and shadbal.

I forgot the web-site where it can be found. It explains more

clearly things with examples than what i have told here. I typed

basically what i rememebered reading from that article here.

Ishta Pala and Kashta Pala:

============================

e) I found in B.V.Raman's book that Ishta Pala and Kashta pala has to

do with the dasa effects of a planet. If the ishta pala is greater

than kashta pala then during the dasa auspicious effects can be felt.

 

B.V.Raman says that he has found instances where the planet was

auspicous etc in differnet vargas but got a very low score in

ashtakavarga and hence the bhava results it owned was destroyed.

There may be more exceptiosn like this.
