Dear Sanjay,

I read a very reliable scientific report recently which stated that

the shifting mass of the molten core of the earth is causing its

width to be expanding at the equator considerably. You think this is

a good time to review how we draw horoscopes, because our

perceived 'degree' distances between two successive longitudes and

latitudes should be suitably adjusted upwards?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Warm regards,

Om Namo Bhagavate Vaasudevaya

Dear Ramapriya

While I can visualise a change in the longitudinal distance due to this

expansion in the core, there is unlikely to be a shift in the latitudes

unless it is also stating that the poles are becoming flatter and is moving

towards becoming a plate..maybe after billions of years. In any case, the

rising degree is already based on a flat plane at the equator and even if

the distances increase, so long as the time taken to rotate does not change

substantially, there will be no change in lagna. Other planetary positions

are based on their angle from the center of the earth and this will not

change anyway.

So, the paradigm of Jyotish is on very sound principles and will withstand

this bulging of the equator as well. What needs to be examined is the time

of sunrise. This is important both for Jyotish as well as spirituality.

With best wishes
