Guest guest
Dear Sanjayji Pranam RAM KRISHN HARE I read your mailto Laxmi regarding Vishnu Puran. I think you must be having some specific reason behind the translation. There are some very good translations already in the market. Hindi translation of several Puranas were published by GITA PRESS GORAKHPUR. They gave just the translation and skipped sanskrit text. However they use very expert persons like Raj Jyotishi of Nepal etc to translate specialised topics in jyotish/tantra/ayurved etc. You are unlikely to produce such kind of work with very limited group. These Puranas were made available by way of annual issue of magazine called Kalyan(more than 75 years old!).The prices are extreamly low(below Rs 100 for 600+ big size pages). Several issues are now available as reprints. They work for spread of Bhakti rather than for profit/money. Details of english and other language titles can be seen at http://www.gitapress.org Motilal Banarasidas has also printed several puranas in english. I do not remember their website with similar name. I hope you will find it usefull. BTW:Agni Puran says jyotish shastr has 4,00,000 verses in it!!! Narad Puran includes several chapters on jyotish and covers ganit, hora, sanhita very well. Thanks Anilkumar OM TAT SAT
Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Namaste Anil, I agree with you that there are quite a few translations of Vishnu Purana available. Perhaps Guruji is insisting on the translation more for more for my own learning and self-actualisation than for anything else. Guest guest
Om Namo Bhagavate Vaasudevaya Dear Lakshmi & Anil (thats Anil Kedia if I am right) There were umpteen translations of the Bhagavat Gita, yet Srila Prabhupada wrote one. Had he not written that one, then ISKCON would never have come into existance..there is a link to this work and a prayer, and what Lakshmi is doing is being checked and further commentary etc shall be added by others at Delhi. The purpose will become known in due course, but this is essential. Many Jyotish related issues will get resolved as we progress. With best wishes Sanjay Rath http://sanjayrath.tripod.com <http://sanjayrath.tripod.com> b_lakshmi_ramesh [b_lakshmi_ramesh] Monday, July 29, 2002 2:56 PM vedic astrology [vedic astrology] Re: Puran Om Gurave Namah Namaste Anil, I agree with you that there are quite a few translations of Vishnu Purana available.
