Guest guest
|| Om Gam Ganapataye Namah || Dear Friends I have been reading some examples in some books by Shri Bhat, Shri Pradhan and others ( written in 1950s)...All these books talk about yogas between shani and mangal If saturn and mars are in the same house or in opposition, it is a most terrible yoga for suicide, murder, accidents, mishaps, "dramatic" deaths and "disastrous incidences". Some examples given in the books are : (not all of them resulted in deaths though all were bad)... Hitler (Suicide?).. Many murder victims.. Many women who were burnt in dowry related... People who fell from heights , buildings etc... People who were hurt by bomb explosions etc... I am surprised why no classic or english book talks about these... -Sagar
Guest guest
Dear Sagar, I don't know how others are going to respond to your mail but in my humble experience this does not hold true as a "stand alone" factor. I have in my possession several charts (my own included ...) where Sat/Mars conjunct (in various houses) or opposite (I think that the opposition will actually give more 'serious' effects). I know most of those people personally and can say that none of them was involved in suicide, murder, accidents etc. They all has different obstacles in life that could be connected to the pair and the type of karakas they represent. In several cases I would even say that this conjunction is positive depending on the lordship of the two and the house they occupy (especially the 12th in my opinion) and the aspects on them, especially Jupiter. Further, one should also evaluate their status in the navamsa etc. Kind regards Jay Weiss - "sagar_chitnis" <sagar_chitnis <vedic astrology> Friday, June 14, 2002 9:45 AM [vedic astrology] Interesting - Shani(saturn) and Mangal( mars) disaster Yoga > || Om Gam Ganapataye Namah || > > > Dear Friends > > I have been reading some examples in some books by Shri Bhat, > Shri Pradhan and others ( written in 1950s)...All these books talk > about yogas between shani and mangal > > If saturn and mars are in the same house or in opposition, it is a > most terrible yoga for suicide, murder, accidents, mishaps, > "dramatic" deaths and "disastrous incidences". > > > > Some examples given in the books are : > (not all of them resulted in deaths though all were > bad)... > > Hitler (Suicide?).. > Many murder victims.. > Many women who were burnt in dowry related... > People who fell from heights , buildings etc... > People who were hurt by bomb explosions etc... > > I am surprised why no classic or english book talks about these... > > -Sagar > > > > > > > ....... Guest guest
Jay, I agree. I know someone who basically has had a charmed life where saturn and mars are in opposition and saturn is in the 1st. Guest guest
Dear Nimmi and Jay, Dontja think we're missing a little point here? From what I've heard, the rasi chart gives you tendencies and to time the actual events themselves, you gotta use Narayana Dasa. Now, could it be that in the cases mentioned by you (in Jay's case, himself!), the potential suicidal tendencies are there waiting to happen when the ND of that house for which these two afflicted houses become maraka? I'm tempted to go Jay's way and take my own case (Born 10 Jul 67 at 10.53am in 75-13e, 15-20n). Sat and Mar are 166 degrees apart, 6 rasis and 7 bhavas away from each other. To spice it up, Mars is conjunct and only 7 degrees away from Ketu and Sat with Rah (in bhavachakra). None of the four have any benefic planetary aspects. To a learned astrologer, I'm sure this is a disaster waiting to happen. Just when it'll actually manifest, I guess only ND can predict. Apart from this propensity to dive headlong into serious, erudite discussions, I confess never to being or feeling suicidal Warm regards, Ramapriya hubli vedic astrology, "Nimmi Ragavan" <106350.3660@c...> wrote: > Jay, > > I agree. Guest guest
Dear Ramapriya, "Missing a little" - definitely ... a LOT I think but always learning ... Consider the option of having them both (Saturn & Mars) in a dushtana (two negatives in a negative house) will prove the opposite (especially if well aspected and well placed in the navamsa). I will disclose to you (and the list) that a certain very well known Indian astrologer predicted that my future Saturn/Mars (Vim.) is going to yield super results - that is while I will not be as young (by age) as I may wish to be. His other predictions (given when I started learning Jyotish) came true so I have no reason to doubt him - by now I also know his reasoning and the above (- & - = +) is one of them. The tendencies for suicide must be there as a direct function of a combination (at least) lagna/lord and Moon/lord AS WELL AS RAHU/KETU and their lords. Honestly, I don't think that there is a clear "miracle" combination to safely indicate an inherited suicidal tendency with a "guarantee" that it will happen during a certain dasa. If there is, than very few possess the knowledge. Speaking for myself, I love God and life too much (despite the obstacles and set-backs!!!) to become my own murderer ... More over as a person who studied some psychology and provide OTHERS with advice and guidness my mind works exactly in the opposite direction (love of God and life is beautiful). Inspired by your mail I contacted an old friend of mine in L.A, an astrologer who also have Ma/Sa conj. and asked if the THOUGHT of suicide ever occurred despite the hardships she went through in her life. The reply was short and straight "are you crazy ? life is too beautiful to do such a foolish thing". This conjunction is in the 3rd/Libra and Venus is well placed in Rasi and Mars is the yogakaraka ... (so instead of committing suicide we enjoy life AS IT UNFOLDS, dealing with the obstacles one at the time ...). As for dasa periods please remember that suicide is also end of life and should be seen (among others) from other dasas than ND (like shoola etc). A thought: What if a learned astrologer "detects" suicidal tendencies in a chart but there is no dasa period to "support" it ? I wonder if there is anyone else on this list with Leo lagna, Sat/Mars conj. and he Sun in trine ? I'll stop here as this subject has no visible end ... Let's keep on learning and use our own judgment, keeping in mind the basic rules and adjusted to our modern times. God bless Kind regards Jay Weiss - "ramapriya_d" <ramapriya_d <vedic astrology> Friday, June 14, 2002 11:27 AM [vedic astrology] Re: Interesting - Shani(saturn) and Mangal( mars) disaster Yoga > Dear Nimmi and Jay, > > Dontja think we're missing a little point here? Guest guest
Namaste Sagar, I looked through quite a few of my charts (non famous individuals except for Isadora Duncan & Marshall K. Applewhite!) & these are my findings: Out of 30 Saturn/Mars conjunctions: 1 violent accidental death (also lost her children in previous accident) that was Isadora, 1 suicide attempt, 2 death by AIDS, one committment to a mental hospital connected to violence, 1 near- death health emergency, 1 lost younger brother in accident, 2 deaths by cancer, 1 incarceration due to violent acts. Some of the other 21 people haven't yet run those planets as dasa lord... Of 24 oppositions: 5 people quite unstable mentally, 1 very bad injury, 2 medical emergencies (near- death), 1 local earthquake, 1 mass-suicide leader (Marshall K), 2 cancer diagnoses. And I also looked at the parivartana & mutual aspects & got 15: 1 is HIV positive drug addict, 1 seems to be outwardly & unashamedly cruel to others, 1 life threatening condition out of those. But as I say, their lives are not over yet... Regards, Karyne ______________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Join Juno today! Guest guest
My! that's a pretty awesome bit of research! The compulsive optimist in me wants to draw attention to some basic arithmetic, ie if one third of the sample shows x effect, then two thirds do not. In other words, outcomes are strongly influenced by the other factors that are present. Or to put it another way - perhaps the first lesson in jyotish is not to panic and/ or leap to conclusions. Years later and I still sometimes lurch into a spell of misguided self-absorption! Cheers, Kriya vedic astrology, "Karyne E. Guest guest
Dear Jay, I have been a silent member of this group for over a year. I am a psychologist in Berlin. I have mangala and sani (atmakaraka) both in 6th house forming part of a vipareeta raja yoga. Not my lagna but chandra is in leo. my early life (until 30) has not been easy, but even in the debth of dispair, suicide never was an option. I think vargottama leo moon has given me the strength to bear it all. Mangal Dasa came and my life changed dramatically for the better. I found my Guru, a life partner and completed my education besides spending most of that Dasa in India. Guest guest
||Om Gam Ganapataye Namahah|| Dear Karyne, Thanks for your research in this aspect. The book I am reading says that the saturn-mars have to be approx 180 degree apart and not just opposite houses. Also, depending on which pair of houses they occupy, they influence those people in life. For example if 3rd and 9th then they are bad for brothers etc.. Also if one or both of these planets are debilitated then it will make things worse. If both planets are well placed then it could not lead to disastrous results. I absolutely agree with comments that just these two cannot decide one's fate. For example if a vargotamma guru is aspecting one of these then it is better. Thanks Sagar vedic astrology, "Karyne E.
