Ask your friend to try Ayurvedic treatment from the local branch of Kottakal

Arya Vaidya Sala. Their internal medicenes do work provided they are taken

regularly. He can also ask the Ayurvedic doctor to put him on a treatment of

massage with oils (they have male masseurs also). The internal medicenes and

massage with oils (when done regularly) reduce pain and help to strengthen the

back.

 

If he is able to travel, ask him to visit a Dr. Krishna Raman in Madras. This

man is very well known here -- he is a medical doctor, who treats people with

yoga. He has treated many cases of back-ache successfully, including persons

who have had back surgery. His address is : No 10, 12th Cross St, Indira Nagar,

Chennai 600 020 Phone 490 0980. His e-mail address is

rkrishna (AT) giasmd01 (DOT) vsnl.net.in. Since this is a few years old, I don't know if

the email address or phone no. are still the same.

 

Since you say that your friend is able to work intermittently, the problem may

not be too severe and such methods may work,
