Dasa Bhukthi periods are no doubt the basic math for Predictive

astrology,

But one has to See the various Lords and Lordships in differnt

houses,

the aspects and Benefics and relationships to the differnt houses

and planets,,

in short

VEDIC ASTROLOGY IS BOTH QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE

Dasa periods math is Quantitivative..but

its the Quality that determines this quantitative math

A good astrologer Must be well versed in Puranas..

and the history of the various planets and houses

how Brihaspathy Forgave his wife, when She was Abducted By MOON..

and Mercury was born to Moon and Brishapspathys wife..

How Shukracharya ( venus) was merciful to The materialisic aspects

and helped the Asuras,

and so on.

If one has an indepth understanding of these events

and the relationships between the differnt planets ,

Then that is the Qualitative touch to all the

Quantitative calculations,, arrived at by the various calculations..

For example Mars represents Chevvai Graham ( Lord Subramanya ) and

is associated with Instruments,, and war..

( as Lord Muruga on his seventh day after birth Killed a demon)

One must not Jump into conclusions,, thinking Mars is in his 10th

house and so He/she may be a surgeon or In mechanical engineering

and so on..

But several other factors need to be taken into account

for eg, the location of Jupiter..and its influence on the various

houses,,

and sakata Yoga and etc..
