How can I know it?I Beg You to Tell me how to calculate the First Dasa/Bhukti. A few lines from you can help me much!Thank your very much indeed.Sincerily,AlexArchives: vedic astrologyGroup info: vedic astrology/info.htmlTo UNSUBSCRIBE: Blank mail to vedic astrology-....... Guest guest
Dear Alex, here are directions to calculate Vimshottari as given in Vault of the Heavens: CALCULATING VIMSHOTTARI DASA Following are the duration of each planet's period in Vimshottari Dasa: Sun- 6 years, Rahu- 18 years, Mercury- 17 years Moon- 10 years, Jupiter- 16 years, Ketu- 7 years Mars- 7 years, Saturn- 19 years, Venus- 20 years To calculate the Maha Dasa: 1. Determine the planetary lord of the nakshatra in which the Moon is placed at birth. This determines the planetary period governing at birth. You can look this up in the nakshatra tables given previously. 2. Next calculate the duration of this first period. To do so, determine the minutes the Moon has yet to travel to reach the end of the Nakshatra it is placed in. Divide this by 800, the amount of minutes in a Nakshatra. Multiply this fraction by the length of the particular planet's period as given in the table above. 3. Subsequent periods follow in the order as given in the table. These periods are known as a Maha Dasa, or simply Dasa. Each Dasa is further divided into nine sub-periods for each of the nine planets; this is known as a Bukti in South India, and an Antardasa in North India. To calculate the duration of each Antardasa: 1. Multiply the duration of the Maha dasa lord's period as given in the table by the duration of the sub-lord's period as given in the table. 2. Divide this by 120, the total amount of years in the Vimshottari Dasa. This yields the duration of the sub-period in years and fraction of a year. 3. Multiply the fraction of the year by 365 ¼ to arrive at the days. Or: 1. Multiply the duration of the Maha dasa lord's period as given in the table by the length of the sub-lord's period as given in the table. 2. The last digit multiplied by 3 indicates the days, the previous digits indicates the months. FURTHER DIVISIONS 1. Each Sub-period is further divided into nine third-level periods, or sub-sub-period, known as the Pratyantar Dasa in North India or the Antardasa in South India. 2. Each sub-sub-period is further divided into nine forth-level periods known as Sookshma Dasas. 3. Each Sookshma Dasa is further divided into nine fifth-level periods known as Prana Dasas.
