Effect of Planets at Rasi-Sandhi [Dear Visti: Is sun necessarily a malefic?]

Can you please throw the effects and strength of planets situated at Rasi Sandhi?

 

It is generally mentioned that such planets - within about 1 degree of rasi

sandhi - are totally in-effective as far as their own karaktwa, because of

lordship or placement, is concerned, .

 

However, your following reply to Ajit makes a totally different, and much more logical reading.

 

Kindly elaborate this for our benefit.

The Sun is the Lord of Arudha Lagna and is placed in Rasi Sandhi indicating some

major changes in life during its dasa. It is conjoined the Lagna lord in the

second house showing that the focus of these changes will be family and home as

well as property (Mercury is also 4th lord). Sun in Vargottama is a blessing.

Check if the dasa from Lagna or Moon is applicable in your chart..i.e. be sure

[vedic astrology] Dear Visti: Is sun necessarily a malefic?

Dear Visti:

The other day I came across a mail on the list deliberating on this aspect:

whether Sun is a malefic or a karoor planet. Can it bestow any positive

signification during its mahadasa if it is well placed in the chart, and is a

functional benefic otherwise?

The point is my sun's dasa is due to commence by this year end. In my chart, sun

is at zero degree cancer with mercury in the second house( Mithun lagna). Also,

it is vargottama in the navamsa- placed in the third house with venus( navamsa

lagna is Taurus). What kind of results can I expect from this configuration

during sun's dasa?

I shall be indeed grateful if you could throw some light,
