Guest guest
[i sent this mail in the morning, but it somehow didn't make it. I am resending.] Namaste Sarbani, That is sad. Hopefully the girl will recover from all of this and lead a happy life in the years to come. May God bless her. Reading about these suicide attempts, I thought that her current antardasa lord must be in Mrityu Bhaga (the degree of death). Otherwise so many brushes with death are unlikely. So I checked and, sure enough, that was the case. She is right now running Gemini antardasa ruled by Mercury as per Narayana dasa and Mercury antardasa as per Vimsottari dasa. Because Mercury is in the degree of death, he's trying to give her death. Appease Mercury to solve the problems. Getting "Sudarsana Homam" done will be good, if her parents have inclination and resources. Mercury's Mrityu Bhaga (the degree of death) in Leo is 8. Though Dr. K.S. Charak interpreted this - see his book on medical astrology - as Mercury giving death in 7.5-8.5 degrees of Leo, his interpretation is wrong. It is based on incorrect knowledge. Though he seems like a genuine and sincere scholar, unfortunately not all of his learning is authentic. Mrityu bhagas are not points, but degrees. These are based on the trimsamsa (1/30th) division of signs. Mercury's Mrityu Bhaga being 8 means that he gives death in the 8th trimsamsa, i.e. 8th degree (i.e. 7-8 degrees), of Leo. Here Mercury is in the 8th degree of Leo and hence in Mrityu Bhaga. He is the only planet in MB. For the benefit of people who don't have software/book giving the mrityu bhaga positions, here is the list copied from my software's source code: double MrityuBhagaDegree2 [NUM_RASIS] = { // Ar Ta Ge Cn Le Vi Li Sc Sg Cp Aq Pi { 20, 9, 12, 6, 8, 24, 16, 17, 22, 2, 3, 23 }, // Sun { 26, 12, 13, 25, 24, 11, 26, 14, 13, 25, 5, 12 }, // Moon { 19, 28, 25, 23, 29, 28, 14, 21, 2, 15, 11, 6 }, // Mars { 15, 14, 13, 12, 8, 18, 20, 10, 21, 22, 7, 5 }, // Merc { 19, 29, 12, 27, 6, 4, 13, 10, 17, 11, 15, 28 }, // Jup { 28, 15, 11, 17, 10, 13, 4, 6, 27, 12, 29, 19 }, // Ven { 10, 4, 7, 9, 12, 16, 3, 18, 28, 14, 13, 15 }, // Sat { 14, 13, 12, 11, 24, 23, 22, 21, 10, 20, 18, 8 }, // Rahu { 8, 18, 20, 10, 21, 22, 23, 24, 11, 12, 13, 14 }, // Ketu { 23, 24, 11, 12, 13, 14, 8, 18, 20, 10, 21, 22 }, // Mandi { 1, 9, 22, 22, 25, 2, 4, 23, 18, 20, 24, 10 } // Asc }; The above list is from "Phala Deepika" and "Brihat Prajapatyam". There is one more version given in "Saravali", "Sarvartha Chintamani" and "Jataka Parijatam" for Moon's Mrityu Bhagas: { 8, 25, 22, 22, 21, 1, 4, 23, 18, 20, 20, 10 }, // Moon Both apparently have their own purposes, but I am not an expert on this. Guest guest
Namaskar Narasimha, Thank you for the mrityu bhaga table and throwing light on the whole issue of mrityu bhaga. Her vimshottari antardasha of mercury began in 2000. The problems must have intensified then. Her reported attempts began exactly a year later in 2001 and continues as I wrote earlier. Maybe she had attempted from 2000 itself, we don't know. So definitely, mercury is playing a significant role. Lucas had also pointed this out earlier. Perhaps with transits focussing on her 8H at the moment, the intensity has increased. She comes from an extremely wealthy family. Her family is religious but not spiritual and do not believe in astrology at all. So they may not be inclined to do the homa. Although they might go to the temple and do puja in her name. My personal astrologer who had see her chart strongly recommended the wearing of a pearl. She had declined the offer earlier, but seems now more amenable to it. But why did he say pearl? If it is Mercury that we are seeking to appease? In what other ways can Mercury be appeased? Maybe I should do some home work. Thank you once again, Sarbani "Narasimha P.V.R.
