Guest guest
Pranams, I have read in several places about how the horas and their lords are related to the weekdays (lord of first hora of day is lord of day). My question is this: is there an independent way to determine the hora ruling at a given time? It appears to me that we have adjusted the horas according to the calendar that we use now. That is we derive the horas based on the weekday with the knowledge of the ruler of the day. Now the calendar we are using right now is essentially not a vedic calendar and has undergone numerous revisions and changes over the past several centuries. Given this are we correct in deriving horas based on weekdays? I feel that there might be an absolute way to determine the hora ruling at any given instant and place without reference to the weekday, based on which we should be able to derive the weekday. If I am missing something very simple or my understanding is not correct, please excuse me and point me in the right direction. Thanks!
