Dear visti

In this mail, at a place you have written that

Now wheres Jupiter in your chart? Since its retrogade, it may confer a blessing

from past life, if placed correctly.

Please tell me , what is the relationship of past life with the retrogression of

a planet. If a benefic is in retrogression, is it always a blessing from the

past life? If so, what is the area of life where the blessing will be

manifested? When retrogression is a curse from the past life? How to identify

the field of life where the curse will manifest? How to avert the curse, i.e.

remrdy of it?

With warm regards

A Graha is in its own Amsa, when being in either; Exaltation, Moolatrikona or Own sign.

The Yoga you mention is also given in Sarvath Chintamani, which is an excellent

treatise on divisional charts.

Also make sure to see if the respective Graha is well placed in reference to

Arudha Lagna. Benefics should be placed in; 2nd, 4th, 5th, 8th or 10th to

confer Raja Yoga. If placed in 7th or 1st, then the results may depend on the

sign itself.

If however the benefic is debilitated in Rasi, then it can be placed in; 3rd or

6th from AL, to confer raja yoga.

The above list is opposite for malefics, with respect to placement.

Both malefics and benefics no matter their state, confer Raja Yoga in 9th or

11th from Arudha Lagna.

This should be seen in Rasi.

The timing should be done from an analysis on Yogadas(Source: Jaimini).

Now if i said that all this information and more, has been posted on this list

almost 1-2 years ago, would you be suprised? go have a look:

Vyam Vysdevaya Namah

Dear Dilip,

This has been explained before.

Retrogression indicates some unresolved theme from past life. Whether its a

blessing or a curse depends on its placement in Rasi and Navamsa.

Gurudeva gave an example, where Jupiter retrogade in 5th house of Capricorn,

along with being vargottama, caused schizophrenia to the person, as Jupiter is

Karaka of awareness.

The area of life affected will be indicated by the lordship of the graha. The

means through which these areas will be affected is seen from the grahas

natural karakatwa.

As for remedies, i'm not clear, but am getting there.. remember that this comes

from past life, and hence Upayas may not be fruitful.

Best wishes, Visti.

Dear Visti,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, Gurudev in a previous mail wrote that natural

benefics when retrograde in kendra & trikona carry curse from previous life,

and malefics retrograde in kendra & trikona bring blessings from previous life.

The reverse happens if retrogression occurs in dusthana. There is no mention of

other places, like 2nd house, 3rd house and 11th house. In my horoscope ,

Saturn is retrogade in 2nd house in scorpio. So, what theme it carries from the

previous life, blessings or curse? Saturn is Gnatikaraka ( charakaraka ) in my

horoscope. Another retrograde planet is Jupiter, the Amatya karaka in my

horoscope is placed in cancer in the 10th house. So, this cetainly is bringing

in an unresolved curse from my previous birth. Could it be a curse of a

brahmin(jupiter afflicted by Mars from 3rd house)? And due to this curse, is it

possible that the sufferings for the curse will be the areas of life signified

by the natural karakatwa of Jupiter ,like children,finance, elder brother etc?

Let me inform you that I have no elder brother, my wife had an abortion and

after much difficulty, my only child was born, and my financial

condition(income) is not much. Interestingly, the retrograde Jupiter is

aspecting both by grahadristi and rasidristi, Saturn another retrograde planet.

What result can you expect of it?

My rasi chart is : Lagna- Libra, 2nd house-Saturn® Rahu, 3rd

house-Mars(AK,Vargottama) Moon, 6th house-Sun Merc, 8th house-Venus Ketu, 10th

house-jupiter®.

Please make me understand the riddle of retrograde planets!

With Warm Regards

Dilip Banerjee.

Vyam Vysadevaya Namah

------------------

Dear Dilip,

The Yogas enunciated by Gurudev, were for Retrogade Grahas in their debilitation signs.

Kalyan Verma states; If a planet is exalted, and retrogade, then its effects will be nill.

Why is this?

A retrogade graha has very strong Chesta Bala, showing that this area of life is

very important, and the area craves attention to be resolved.

Take the Natural Karakatwa of the Graha, and see its effect on the house its

placed in. i.e. lets say Saturn was in 4th. Saturn being an enemy of

Moon(Karaka of happiness) and Mars(Karaka of property), may cause some sorrow

and loss of home respectively.

If in turn, Saturn is retrogade, then this sorrow/loss of home, is due to some

problem in the past life, maybe a curse.

This could happen even thou Saturn is Exalted in the 4th and retrogade.

See Sri Ramas chart, he had Saturn in Libra-4th and no doubt it was also

retrogade. During the Moola Dasa of Saturn, he was exiled. Keep in mind that

there were a few more factors, which made this for sure (Mars & SaturnR giving

Graha Dristi on Jup in Lagna, causing curse of a brahmin).

So take the Karakatwa of the Retrogade Graha;

Saturn=Sorrow/loss

Mars=Anger

Mercury=communication/education

Venus=sexual relations

Jupiter=philosophy/awareness

Its clear that its only the 5 planets that can attain this status. the

Luminaries and the Nodes are out of this scheme.. why?

The nodes are always retrogade, and Rahu being the cause of rebirth, helps us

understand the role of other retrogade grahas.

Now lets say Venus was retrogade in the 4th house. Venus in 4th tends to give

many luxuries, such as Cars, Computers and such, and when retrogade these

things suddenly need a stronger focus. Venus is enimical towards Moon, hence

there will be some mental disatisfaction with their luxuries and may want more,

become very materialistic. This will be for sure if Rahu has dristi on Venus.

As a result the houses lorded by Venus will be damaged. Not to mention if Venus was debilitated.

The results you have enunciated from your own chart, do indeed make sense from

the placements you have given, your on the right track to understanding them.

Best wishes, Visti.

Now wheres Jupiter in your chart? Since its retrogade, it may confer a blessing

from past life, if placed correctly.

Best wishes, Visti

placed in a good division like Parvathamsa etc, the native will get all kinds of

wealth in his house effortlessly".In my case, I have Jupiter® as the 2nd Lord

Pisces(3) D-7 -- in Pisces(4) D-9 -- in Pisces, conjuct with Sun(5) D-16

-- in Pisces, conjuct with Sun(6) D-60 -- in Sagittarius, conjunct with
