Dear Chandan,

Brihat Samhita is meant for mundane affairs. It is a compendium of various

worldly matters and it deals those affairs astrologically. It is not dealing

normal astrological matters. You should have got, Brihat Jataka of the great

Varahamihira. Anyhow, you can read Samhita and understand what is required from

us as an astrologer and the depth of knowledge of Varahamihira. There are some

chapters about Nakshatra, which will help you in normal astrology.

But, BPHS is the book, you should read, sloka by sloka and understand the

meaning thoroughly, do not rush in reading.

Let Vyasadeva bless you to proper in Jyotish, while you read his son's work.

Thanks

Solai Kannan

BPHS and Brhat Samhita?

Dear Jotish friends and Gurujis,I just received Brihat Parashara hora Shastra

Vol I & II and Brhat Samhita of Varahamihira from India. It will be a challenge

for me to read and understand these books since I even get too confused with

other simply written books. Any suggestion how or which one should I read

first?I see that Brhat Samhita of Varahamihira is not suggested for reading by

Gurujis, any reason?Thank youChandan Archives:
