Dear Chandan,

I dont think you will be able to find a standard book on ritual and

yagnas as each of the three great spiritual traditions of India -

Vaishnava, Shaivite or Shakti - have their own set of riualistic rules

and procedures.

So finding a standard book on rituals really means finding the standard

book of your tradition or sampradaya. I know that the Gaudiya Vaisnava

tradition which is followed in ISKCON has such a standard book. It is

Sat Kriya Sara Dipika by Gopala Bhatta Gosvami (written in Sanksrit in

the 16th century) and a translation might be available in larger ISKCON

temples or with the pujaris of such a temple.

The Ramakrishna mission or other such societies have their own puja and

yagna books. The best thing to do is to find out a competent priest

belonging to your favourite tradition and learn from him. In fact, I

think it is virtually impossible to become expert in vedic rituals

without the personal guidance of a guru. I don’t know where you live. If

you are in South India, you can approach any priest of the Sri or Madhva

sampradaya as these people are reprtedly very expert in vedic rituals.

If you are in America, James Braha seems to have connections to temples

which perform rituals for his clients.

Best wishes, Arno

Narayan,

Thank you, I have already read the whole book. Yes, it is a great

book for remedies but what I am looking for is how to perform

elaborate rituals and Yagnas, the book by sanjayji has mantras and it

also talks about yagnas but did not talk in details of the rituals --

it refer to standard book. I am really looking for that standard book

or books.

Chandan
