So, here Su and Mer form Budadithya Yoga. Sun is in Debilitation. What is the significance of 3 benefics in Dushtana? Ve is the badhaka(7th lord) in 12th, so that is good. Me, lord of the 8th in 12th is good. Isn't it bad to have so many planets in the 12th house, as it signifies loss and destruction? Ans: (a) For instance for a Simha lagna horoscope, if mars the karaka of 3 is in Cancer, the native will be fortunate in brothers. This applies to karakas and the bhava which the karaka represents; (b) the second is a general statement affecting planets as such and applies only to their lordships (Bhavadhipathya). In the same example,Mars is lord of 4 and posited in 12 - Cancer. All the 4th house prospects are shut out to him." Garga Hora #1315 implies that the general effects are that the person eats bad food and drinks, be afflicted and ill-tempered. As we talk about the lords of lagna, 2nd/11th, 3rd/10th and 4th/9th (yogakaraka) it will in general terms indicate various associated types of expenditure and loss of the same during their periods. A deeper analysis is needed (among others) into aspects, related divisional charts etc. However not all are 'bad' as such. The Sun may give power and authority,good connections etc. if well aspected, while Mars may give losses of property and wealth in middle age (that goes for Venus as well). While Venus gives respect and comforts it also makes it difficult in employment. Mercury can give income from secret sources/nature only to be lost through enemies (I know Gurudev Sanjay does not like this word so maybe opponents will be a better one...). The Navamsa placement is also to be considered ... and so on ... and on... I lost property (there by wealth) during Mer/Sat period. Also I have Jupiter in Lagna, Moon in 4th (debiliated), ketu in 2nd, Rahu in 8th, Sat in 9th(debiliated). I was under opinion that Mars has Neecha Bhanga, since depositer Moon and Jupiter which exalts in Cancer are kendras from Lagna. But an astrologer told me that Mars should in Kendra in my case to be Neecha bhanga. Please clarify. If Mars has Neecha Bhanga, what are its effects? So, with respect the present chart, the placement of the 4 planets in the 12th house mean the following: (1)Sun, the karaka for the 1st house will give the following-good health and energy but being the lord of the 10th will lower the profession and status. (2)Moon, the karaka of the 4th house will give good mother, emotions and trouble free mind but being the lord of the 9th will take away fortune, religious and fame. (3)Mercury, the karaka of the 10th house will give good profession and status. Here Sun diminishes the 10th house related matters but mercury helps the 10th house matters. What does this situation signify? It is the lord of the 8th and 11th house reduces longevity and elder siblings and gains. (4)Venus is the karaka and the lord of the 7th house. What does it signify? Since venus is the 12th lord, it will reduce expenditure which is good. Please give your comments on my interpretation. Also, regardless of their placement, does all planets help their karakatwas except when the planet is placed in its own karaka house according to the "karaka bhava nacha". Is "karaka bhava nacha" always true and to what extent? If placed in its karaka house, will it destroy that house matters or will it only delay those matters. For eg. if Jup is placed in the 5th house, what does it signify? I have been trying to learn astrology but am still at beginner level -pretty confused beginner at that! Probably the Gurus can shed more light on your queries. I just want to spell out my understanding based on the rules quoted from the book. Info from P.42 of 'A Catechism of astrology' by Sri B V Raman: Mars is karaka of 3 Moon is karaka of 4 Mercury is karaka of 4 Jupiter is karaka of 5 Venus is karaka of 7 Saturn in karaka of 8 Sun is karaka of 9 I believe these karakas are standard for all natives (i.e., not dependent on the native's lagna). Further, this rule is probably one of many that predicts effects of planets being posited in the 12th house.Also, probably the effects due to the conjunction of the 4 planets will also have to be taken into consideration before specifying the effects. On a simplistic basis, my understanding of the rule for this horoscope (sun-mercury-venus-mars in 12 for Leo lagna) would be as follows: Sun is the karaka for 9 -represents father,soul -the person is fortunate with respect to having a great father. also the native is generally fortunate with respect to 9th house affairs (fortune,religion,etc). Mercury is the karaka for 4th house - represents intelligence,happiness,education,etc -fortunate in these issues. Venus is karaka for 7 - spouse -fortunate with respect to marriage. Mars is karaka for 3 - siblings -fortunate with respect to siblings. In summary, matters relating to houses 9,7,3 &4 will be favourably influenced due to the presence of sun,venus,mars & mercury in 12th house. For Leo Lagna, sun,mercury,venus & mars are lord of 1, 2 (&11),3 (&10),4 (&9). Aspects for these will be negatively influenced due to the bhava lord being posited in the 12th house. Hope my answer makes sense - its just a direct application of the 2 rules mentioned in the book for this planetary position. Regarding the question related to 'karaka bhava nasha': the following quote from the book,p.42 should answer it satisfactorily: "It is stated that when a karaka occupies his own Bhava (house), the Bhava (house) and the karaka (indicator) become unfavourable. if venus, the karaka of 7 is in 7, venus and the 7th house become unfavourable.Similarly moon in 4, sun in 9,mars in 3, mercury in 4,jupiter in 5 are unfavourable. Saturn alone is excepted. Saturn in the 8 confers long life." I am not sure about info for karakas for the remaining houses (1,2,6,10,11 & 12)???? Another interesting rule mentioned in p.42 is "Bhavartha ratnakara states that those bhavas whose lords are in conjunction with the respective karakas become strong....." eg.,Lagna is Leo,lord of 3 is venus.If venus is in conjunction with mars (karaka of 3),third house becomes strong. I remember reading in the books that assumptions should not be based on a single consideration - the shadbala value should be calculated for each planet.Also, any yoga/arishta present in the horoscope should be considered.In addition, the dasa/bhukthi should also be considered to evaluate whether the good/bad will really occur.For example, if the planetary position is favourable but bad dasas/bhukthis operate during the period in question, the good effects indicated may not be obtained. Will antardasa of Sun affect him. In fact, his sun AD in Jupiter Mahadasa went well. His Sun AD in Saturn Mahadasa starts in 2009. I noticed that Sun is in Debilitation in Li. Is a debilitated malefic in 12th house very bad? Will sun give its bad affects only in its Maha-Antar-patyantar etc dasas only? He is to propitiate Mars when and through which diety? Kindly answer my queries. Then Aquarius would be the Lagna during Leo Narayana dasa. I have such case with Leo dasa in 2007-2008. For Sun in 12th as Marana sthana position you have given the remedy to propitiate Hanumanji [Mars]. Mars rules the exaltation sign of Sun. To generalize, for Marana sthana position of various planets can exaltation rashi lord deity be propitiated?. for Jupiter in 3rd as Marana sthana propitiate Moon [Parvati, Durga(waxing),Kali(waning)], for Mars in 7th propitiate Saturn [instead of Brahma pray Narayana, Om Tat Sat], for Saturn in Lagna pray to Venus deity Shree Laxmi. for Mercury in 7th(?) propitiate mercury [Vishnu]. for Venus in 6th pray to Jupiter[Guru/Dakshinamurthi/Samba Shiva] for Rahu in 9th pray to mercury's deity Vishnu or [Gomedh ?] for Moon in 8th pray to Venus Shree Laxmi or use Mrityunjaya mantra?. Is there any reason as to why wheat is used in propitiation or should I take it as axiom?.
