Try Vedic Remedies By Sanjay Rath. I personally think its the best.

Thank you, I have already read the whole book. Yes, it is a great

book for remedies but what I am looking for is how to perform

elaborate rituals and Yagnas, the book by sanjayji has mantras and it

also talks about yagnas but did not talk in details of the rituals --

it refer to standard book. I am really looking for that standard book

or books.

Dear Chandan,

I think, you are from Bengal. There are quite a few very good books in Bengali

on the subject of your mail. You can get these books from"Samskrita Pustak

Bhandar, 38 Bidhan Sarani, Kolkata-700006." Ph- 241-1208. The books are:

1.Shanti Swastayan Kalpadrum: Rs.160.00

By- Aghorananda Agambagish.

2.Aasal o Adi Hindukriya Kalpadrum: Rs.200.00

In 3 parts

By-Bhagabati Charan.

3.Anhik Krityam: ( Present price is not known to me.)It was originally in Six

parts. Now they have made it compact and made available in three parts - but

all the material of old edition is there.This is perhaps the best book for

understanding the meaning and purpose of Puja.The author is Shyamaacharan

Kabiratna Vidyaabaaridhi.

 

If you can read Devanagari, there is a book( in 2 Vol.) on Stotra . There are

425 stotras in it . The name of the book is BRIHAT STOTRARATNAKAR.The publisher

is CHOUKHAMBHA ORIENTALIA, PO CHOUKHAMBHA, PO BOX 1032. GOKUL BHAVAN , K 37/109,

GOPAL MANDIR LANE, VARANASI-221001.

 

If you can understand Hindi, an excellent small book about Puja-paddhati, was

published many years ago by the Gita Press , Gorakhpur. I can't remember the

exact title of the book( I could not find it in my library just now). The title

is , I think NITYA KARMA PUJAA PRAKAASH or something like that.

 

Above all, you must have PUROHIT DARPAN for details of every puja. This is also

available from SAMSKRITA PUSTAK BHANDAR.

 

I don't know how you can get these books in USA. You can make a phone call to

the Samskrita Pustak Bhandar for Bengali Books.For Hindi Books, Mr Shiv Chadha

is there.

Dear Chandan,I dont think you will be able to find a standard book on ritual

andyagnas as each of the three great spiritual traditions of India -Vaishnava,

Shaivite or Shakti - have their own set of riualistic rulesand procedures.So

finding a standard book on rituals really means finding the standardbook of

your tradition or sampradaya. I know that the Gaudiya Vaisnavatradition which

is followed in ISKCON has such a standard book. It isSat Kriya Sara Dipika by

Gopala Bhatta Gosvami (written in Sanksrit inthe 16th century) and a

translation might be available in larger ISKCONtemples or with the pujaris of

such a temple.The Ramakrishna mission or other such societies have their own

puja andyagna books. The best thing to do is to find out a competent

priestbelonging to your favourite tradition and learn from him. In fact, Ithink

it is virtually impossible to become expert in vedic ritualswithout the personal

guidance of a guru. I don’t know where you live. Ifyou are in South India,

you can approach any priest of the Sri or Madhvasampradaya as these people are

reprtedly very expert in vedic rituals. If you are in America, James Braha

seems to have connections to templeswhich perform rituals for his clients.Best

Hi ,

 

I have seen the the PUROHIT DARPAN BOOK,Is it possible to get this book in hindi.This book is in bengali.I have also gone through the book fom gita press that is NITYA PUJA KARM,this book does not mention the detail puja of maa durga( which is performed in the navratri time) please any one could suggest the book name similar to PUROHIT DARPAN in hindi.
