Guest guest
Vyam Vysadevaya Namah ------------------------- Dear Jai and Ron, Asta(8) Dala(petal) Padma(Lotus). The same can be understood from the Kala Chakra. Hereunder, are the ruling planets of the Kala Chakra(deities correspond to the grahas, and the opposite sign shows the animal they ride). Sun(Ari, Tau) Rahu(Gem) Mars(Vir) Mon(Aqu, Cap) Jup(Can, Leo) Sat(Pis) Mer(Sag) Venus(Lib, Sco) Theres a detailed pic in; Vedic Remedies in Astrology - Sanjay Rath(pg 63). But we can't merely choose a scheme based on the Kala Chakra.. then what? Heres a few clues: The Chara Rasis are the movable signs, given the overlordship of Brahma. The Sthira Rasi's are the Fixed signs, given the overlordship of Shiva. The Dwiswabhava Rasi's are the Dual sign, given the overlordship of Vishnu. Chara Rasi's relate to the birth and activity of the soul, whilst the Sthira Rasi's relate to the death of the physical body, and such temporary materials. The Dwiswabhava Rasi's, show the natural constant state, which is ever blissful, and is devoid of birth and death. There are no differings on the following points; 9 Natural Karakas, called the Naisargika Karakas. 7 Fixed Karakas, called the Sthira Karakas. Now Chara(activity and birth) relates to neither physical consciousness, which is succeptible to death(sthira), nor the ever blissful consciousness of the natural Karakas(Naisargika). Actually, Chara is one step above physical consciousness and 1 step bellow complete bliss(as i call it). Hence there is the element of desire that led to the birth of our physical consciousness, which is the lacking force in this case. This element of desire, and the cause of our rebirth is Rahu! And hence Ketu is the only Karaka excluded from the Chara Karaka scheme, as it is the cause of Moksha! Now.. Activity in this world is temporary, but yet different for each individual.. hence the Chara Karakas are based on the degrees and movement of the grahas through the zodiac. In case of Sthira Karakas we know that the native has a body, and hence we know allready that one day it will perish, and there is no doubt about this. Hence the Sthira Karakas are fixed from the begining! Does that answer your question? btw, there is no such thing as 'Jaimini'- or 'Parasara'- Karakas. Remove those phrases from your mind. Karaka means significator or 'Doer', and i can't imagine what a 'Jaimini-doer' has todo with anything?! Jai Jai Gurudev! Best wishes, Visti. Guest guest
OM GANESHAYA NAMAH !!! Dear Visti and Ron, Thanks for detailed input. I am paraphrasing what Mr. Sanjay Rath has said in his article -- Sun's rays are composed of 7 colors representing Sun to Saturn.....and we have 2 more kind of rays Ultraviolet ray -- rahu Infrared ray -- ketu 3 legs of tripod of creation: Soul, Mana (Sthira), Body (Naisargika Karakas) MANA: Because subtle body is influenced by 7 basic colors excluding invisible spectrum .........thus 7 Sthir Karakas BODY: Because body is influenced by all forms light thus we have 9 Naisargika Karakas SOUL: Coming to the Atma, the fact that the soul has taken rebirth proves that it has not got Moksha (emancipation from the cycle of rebirth). Thus, in any scheme of planets trying to define the state of the Atma, the Moksha karaka Ketu will have to be excluded. This leaves us with the EIGHT CHARA KARAKA from Sun to Rahu. This is the real Spirit body. Rahu is included in chara karaka scheme. Now because it is always retrograde....one should use the longitude from the beginning of the rashi or the end of the rashi?? Hora Lite uses Rahu's longitude from the end of the Rasi. If this is the case why other retrograde planets' longitude is not taken from end of the rasi?? Guest guest
Om Krishna Guru =============== Respected Visti and Dearest Jai [as well as the list], pranaam: Thanks a lot Visti; for the detailed explanations regarding Karakas. Further to my yesterday's post, I realized that I had written "[Rahu and Ketu inclusive]" for Atmakaraka. Well...I would like to further add and clarify as follows [for the rest of the amateurs like me; in this list]: 1) Ketu is hardly considered as Atmakaraka [by many parampara of Jyotish] because by default [design of our solar system] *both* Rahu as well as Ketu would have the same exact degrees [as Atmakaraka is the highest degree planet in D-1 or Rasi]. 2) Therefore; if Ketu or Rahu are the highest degree planet in the chart, of course; this would mean that a Jyotish would rather consider Rahu [Head] as the Atmakaraka [rather than the body = Ketu], as Rahu and Ketu will always be 180 degrees apart and therefore same degrees of a *house*. 3) *Perhaps* this is the reason why the term "Asta(8) Dala(Petal) Padma(Lotus)" came around! 4) **However** there would *still* be one controversy...for example [see example below]: Example: Scenario - Right now [as of today], Ketu is in its own house [scorpio] and Rahu is in its *second* exalted house [Taurus ... second because many consider Rahu to be exalted in Gemini]. Since Rahu and Ketu just moved in Taurus and Scorpio [respectively] just a few weeks ago [February], they will remain there for around 18 months. Furthermore, since both Rahu and Ketu [Nodes] travel in a constant retrograde motion, when they reach...say 01Ta00 or 01Sc00 respectively, there will be a controversy amongst some of *us* [less learned students]. The controversy will then be as follows: a) If a person is born during the highest degrees of Rahu and/or Ketu [see above for degrees in reverse as retrograde], which one of this should be considered the Atmakaraka? b) According to the given rules, when two grahas [while Rahu and Ketu are not exactly grahas, well, let us just assume for discussion] have same degrees, the Atmakaraka is decided based upon the stronger placement. c) Therefore, can anyone in this list help with the question with the above, as to: If Rahu is in exaltation [Taurus] and if Ketu is in own house [scorpio], which of these two would/should be considered as Atmakaraka for people born...say approx. 18 months from now? Summary: I would still think Rahu would only be the Atmakaraka and not Ketu, but I could be wrong. Am I right in this deduction/logic? Many thanks in anticipitation. With that... Please convey my best regards to all your loved ones ever and you all take care too. Guest guest
Vyam Vysadevaya Namah ----------- Dear Jai, It is not in the 5 planets nature to move backwards. When they doso, important lessons from the past, need resolution.. otherwise they move forward like the Sun & Moon. Rahu is however always Retrogade as that is its Nature, as its always moving in the opposite direction of the entire zodiac. Hence you can infer, that Rahu is always looking in the opposite direction of all the other Grahas. The other grahas, are however always looking forward. When they go retro, they are still looking forward, but their motion is backwards.. i.e. They can see their goal infront of them, but they are moving away from it. However, when judging Yuddha, we always count in forward-direction. Best wishes, Visti.
