Vyam Vysadevaya Namah

-------------------

Dear Jai,

There are 8 Chara Karakas(7 Sthira & 9 Naisargika).

The 8th is either Rahu or Ketu. Which one is it, and

why?

To understand the Chara Karakas, you must study the

very base of hinduism; the Astadala Padma. Draw your

conclussion from there.

Eagerly awaiting your reply.

Best wishes, Visti.

OM GANESHAYA NAMAH !!!

Dear Visti,

1. The naisargika or natural karakas are the same as the Parashari karakas (am

quite confident with parashar methodology but jaimini .......oops .......long

way to go).

2. The sthira (static) karakas are the stronger between sun and venus for

father, stronger between moon and mars for mother, mars for brother, siblings,

mercury for maternal uncle/aunt, jupiter for grandfather, venus for husband,

saturn for children and ketu for wife and parents-in-law.

3. The chara (dynamic) karakas:

"Atmadhikaha kaladibhirna bhogassaptanamashtanamva"

Of the seven planets from the Sun to Saturn, or the eight planets from the Sun

to Rahu, which ever gets the highest number of degrees becomes the Atmakaraka.

Confusion persists..........whether to include Rahu in chara karakas or

not..........rahu a mysterious planet is still inscrutable to me..

Please guide.

Regards,

Jai

Om Krishna Guru

===============

Respected Visti and Dearest Jay:

While I myself am a student of Jyotish and not very qualified...

I felt compelled to add to what Visti has kindly mentioned below:

My Diksha Guruji clearly explained the Naisargika, Chara, and Sthira

karakas, whereby I understand that:

1) Rahu *can* be Atmakaraka

2) Atmakaraka is (usually) the Graha [Rahu or Ketu inclusive] that has

the highest degrees

3) Ketu sure gets complicated and confusing as *generally* Ketu is

headless [Head is the Rahu] and therefore the confusion.

While I may not have totally answered the query or added much input; I

believe this discussion needs to be carried further and in details as

there is not much in the archives with regards to Rahu/Ketu being

Atmakaraka.

Furthermore, if I remember correctly, Visti's Kundali [horoscope]

shows Rahu as Atmakaraka.

So if Visti also insists that Rahu can be Atmakaraka, then I would

stick with that point of view [Thanks Visti].

One more thing I wanted to add [sorry; I have been away for long] with

regards to other threads [where Sanjay-Ji has commented about a boy's

chart --- approx. March 1st week, 2002 post ---]:

....is with regards to Rahu + Atmakaraka relationship [see below].

Rahu is mysterious in many ways [this even I have found out the hard

way...], however it is my *personal* opinion that when Rahu conjoins

or afflicts the Atmakaraka, the lessons for this life become even more

intense!

Especially when the Atmakaraka happens to be Sun or Moon.

Hope the above helps the list.

With that...please convey my best regards to all your loved ones ever

and you all take care too.

Om Namo Narayana

Pranaam, kind regards, and best wishes

Ron
