Guest guest
Dear Venkateshwara, A lot of people do not perform chandi homam because the actual reason chandi homam is recommended is to protect from evil spirits, black magic, navagrah dosha, ward off enemies, spiritual enlightment. Also, the minimum time for chandi path without taking into consideration Ganapathi Homam which precedes all homam's and other prayers is 31/2 hours. That too if one person is doing paranayam simultaneously while we are performing homam. Also, chandi homam requires you to do annadanam immediatly or as soon as possible, preferable to brahmins(as suggested in chandi path). I have always been praying since the age of 19 like Japa , mantra etc. But I started doing homam's since last year. Even though we did get sick , I have seen miracles happining in my life due to doing this parayanam. I started doing parayanam after I did the homam last year. I felt that the Goddess pushed me to do it. Initially I wanted to do only when I felt like because it is such a long prayer. But something told me to do it and I ended up doing every week(once) for the last 7 months. I did 10 staight days of this parayanam during Navratri and I made sure that during the last 4 days Annadanam took place in India while I was praying here. The results were great and I was really pleased. However these prayers require you to follow some rules on the days the prayer is performed. I personally felt that the Goddess is very kind and gives more importance to your dedication rather than any other aspects of prayer. Chandi is also considered the highest form of prayer. She is the culmination of all the gods & goddesses and hence extemely powerful. As for your question on why Lord Skanda is prayed for children instead of Lord Shiva. Indian mythology has designated certain functions to all Gods. Although pure dedication and Bhakti can get you a child from any God, we all lack that pure Bhakti in today's world with the exception of few great souls. Hence for quick results we have to pray the God's who have been designated certain duties. For example for a Child or to remove sarpa dosha, we recommend Skanda homam or Naga Shanti. For Shani dosha, Lord shiva must be prayed. Any prayer gives good result irespective of what God you pray. However certain prayers are recommended for certain doshas. That does not mean that you cannot pray other gods. FOr example I do pray Ganesh, Satya Narayan Vrata , durga, Laxmi and other gods all the time. It is because it gives me contentment and peace of mind. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
