father in law

Dear Henry,

While compiling for 'Significators', I saw and consulted every book available

including B V Raman's books but none could assign a planet to father in law.

That is why my book does not list it.

Regarding 9th or 10th house controversy for father, both will have to take into account. How?

9th house stands for boss or authority over native. Also ascendant i.e. native

is child of 9th house. So 9th house is for biological father i.e. the true

father.

10th house is for husband of the mother, being 7th from 4th house. So 10th house

stands for father of the native in the eyes of the society. The income of 10th

house i.e. 8th house (11th from 10th) decides volume of inheritance i.e. 8th

house of native. The wealth house of 10th i.e. 2nd from 10th, the 11th house is

income of the native in the form of pocket money. From legal angle 10th house

stands very well to represent father. But biological role and guiding role

leads to 9th house. If the two kind of fathers are the same as in most of the

cases are, it is well and good to consider both houses. And in case, they are

two different persons, both houses will still play role for two kind of

fathers.

This way the two houses should be looked at for father. One can advance it as

analogy for wife's father too. Father in law should also have two houses, the

3rd and the 4th houses.

I am CC-ing it to the list for other's opinion. May be we get some more light on it.

Best wishes,

Shiv Chadha

Re: father in law

many thanks your in depth reply but at the moment I do not know what to think !

North India would take 10th from 9th = 4th !

Does not Parasa state to use Kethu for wife's relatives ?

Another astrologer says to use 10th bhava and SUN is the planet.

I think that after *thousands of years Vedic astrologers cannot agree

on father in law , that it is very sad.

You have written a book on significators, what do you use ?

did B V Raman give an opinion ?

Many thanks, Henry

Thanks, Henry

Re: father in law

Classics don't given any clue for father-in-law. 3rd is 9th from 7th, so

qualifies as far as house is concerned. Take 3rd from Karakansh, Arudha Lagna

too.

Among planets, try 3rd in reverse from Darakarak i.e. Putrakarak as father in

law. Why? K S Charak researched and found bhratrakarak to represent father.

Taking same argument, 3rd from DK in increasing degrees PK should become wife's

father. What do you think?

Dear Shiv Chadha,

Venus represents the in laws as per Jaimini Sutras, 9th from Venus the

father in law and 4th from Venus mother in law. Have enjoyed your book over the

years.
