Dear Narayan Iyer

Then Why is not Leo the Badhak for Aries? This is also a fixed sign.

[vedic astrology] Baadhaka

m aanjaneyaaya namaH

Dear Group,

We have been having some discussions on Baadhakas recently. Here's my

take on it. What I write here is not FINAL, so take it with a grain

of salt as I could be wrong here!

Baadhaka means *Trouble Maker*. The following is the rule to find the

Baadhaka Sthaana for the 12 signs.

1. For Moveable signs, the baadhaka sthaana(position) is 11H.

2. For Fixed signs, the baadhaka sthaana(position) is 9H.

3. For Dual signs, the baadhaka sthaana(position) is 7H.

So the question is why 11, 9 & 7.

I think Baadhakas signify the inherent weakness of a sign, much like

*Achilees Heals*. It means that all of us are susceptible to certain

aspects of life, which, could inevitably get problematic, if proper

care is not taken.

The Moveable signs, generally speaking, represent people who are very

ambitious, go-getters & driven. They want to acquire everything, the

main focus are on Acquisition & Gains. The 11H from Lagna indicates

this. Further, note that this 11H is a Fixed sign, denoting that

patience & *fixity of purpose* is required to accumulate. That is,

Moveable signs people, they like the *End*, but the *Means* to the

*End* is not their forte. So ignoring the *Means* will result in

problems pertaining to the *End*!

Example: Aries, lack of fixity of purpose orpatience, will result in

their spreading thin all over and ultimately

end up with nothing or losing everything.

The Fixed signs, generally speaking, represent people who are hard-

working, persistent and have fixity of purpose. They have a

reputation of being stubborn, leaving no room for compromise. This

steadfastness comes from their beliefs i.e. they have a Dharma(9H) to

which they hold on to tightly. Their 9H are moveable signs who unlike

them are very compromising and have room for adjustment. So, if the

Fixed-sign natives, remain unyielding, can be the cause of their own

undoing!

Example: Leo, 9H is Aries, where Sun exalts. Too much fixation with

Ego results in their clash with Authority figures

and ultimately to their downfall.

The Dual signs, generaly speaking, represent people who have both

qualities governed by Moveable & Fixed signs. So their, death-knell

can come from the opposite sign i.e 7H from them. That is, to say,

since these signs have a mixture of both of the other signs, an

imbalance in the mixture, could tilt to one side and cause their fall.

Example: Virgo signs usually lack Emotions ruled by Pisces.

Saggitarians are usually Principles and Idealistic

which are in total contrast to Gemini who can be unscruplous.

So, as far as the BadhakaSthana, Baadhakesh & Planets therin are

concerned the Moral of the story is BALANCE.

Narayan

Dear Sanjay,

As I said, for Moveable signs, being dyanamic & go-getters, the focus

is on Acquisition and Accumulation, which is a 11H matters and hence

for Aries, we take the 11H from it i.e Aquarius.

Dear group:

i would like to approach this discussion from slightly different angle. In

the case of fixed sign. For scorpio, the ninth lord is moon and he is

depleted in the scorpio. In that case badhak lord getting depleted could

be considered good. But a depleted moon in general is not considered all

that favourable. How do we reconcile these two apparently contracdictory

situations.
