A planet's weakness due to infancy

A question that seems to perennially baffle the students of astrology: Is a

functional benefic(sun for example) that is weak in the natal chart due to

extreme infancy, but is otherwise well posited in both rashi as well as

navamsa, and also vargottama, capable of expressing itself both in terms of its

effects on those it signifies as well as on the native. I read conflicting views

in the literature on whether a vargottama planet that is in its infancy in the

rashi, can give its expected results during its dasa. There are some who say

that vargottama planet acquires additional strenth that overrides its infancy,

where as some like James Braha take a dim view of vargottama theory.

I would be grateful if gurus could throw some light on this.

Vyam Vysadevaya Namah!

Dear Ajit,

When Sun Occupied the first Navamsa of fiery Rasi's, then its in Vargottama,

however its also in Gandanta.

Those who survive such births can become very great personalities.

Same thing applies for the last Navamsa of Water Rasi's.

Its not baffling, its in one of the first chapters of BPHS.

Best wishes, Visti.

[vedic astrology] A planet's weakness due to infancy

Dear Visti:

Thanks so very much for your kindness in clarifying the issue.

One more small bother: If sun is in cancer at 0 degree in rashi chart, and also

in cancer in navamsa, shall it be deemed to be in the last navamsa of a watery

sign or the first navamsa of this sign.

You may be exasperated by this query, but pl. bear with me. I hope you would be

kind (as usual) to explain this one.

Thanks and best wishes,

Dear Ajit,

Last Navamsa of a watery sign, is the last 3:20 degrees of it.

Gandanta positions are also described as;

The 1st Pada of Aswini, Magha & Moola

+

The 4th Pada of Revati, Jyestha & Asleesha.

Get "Vedic Remedies in Astrology", it also has alot on other volatile positions,

as well as a a throrough list on curses and use of Badhakesh.

Best wishes, Visti.

Dear Visti:

Thanks once again. But should I infer that planets that are in the same sign

in navamsa and rashi, but are not in the first (in case of fiery signs) or

the last (in case of watery sign) navamsa, are not to be considered as

vargottama??

Once for the last time, could you please confirm!

Many thanks and best wishes,

Ajit

Dear Ajit,

No!

Gandanta and Vargottama are two different things.

Best wishes, Visti.
