Hi all,

Marriage is looked at quite differently by those in the west compared

to we Indians' attitude towards it; here, it still remains a

pivotally important event in a person's life. Live-in relationships

are getting popular in India too, but the numbers are way

insignificant.

I've a few queries on this theme:

1. Can the same astrological astrological principles of marriage be

applied to charts in the west too, the above-mentioned difference

notwithstanding? After all, an astrologer's answers can't be divorced

(pun accidental) from the environment in which the querist lives in;

indeed, Raman has insisted that such familiarization be top of the

list of protocols an astrologer follows before embarking on any

analysis. There must be some differences in a chart that might point

to a live-in relationship vis-a-vis one in which a marriage is

indicated; Rahu in 7th with a weak Venus or Mars, maybe?

2. How can a divorce be foretold in a chart? Some of the things I

thought up are:

- Venus weakly placed and afflicted by malefics

- Seventh lord in a dusthana

- No favorable aspects on either the seventh or second house

- Marriage; without it, there can't be a divorce :)

I'd look for the above in both D-1 and D-9.

3. Are there any yogas for bachelorhood or spinsterhood? Lack of

planetary strength for Venus and 7th lord in both D-1 and D-9,

perhaps...

Warm regards,

Ramapriya
