I will copy the first part of your mail to the forum if you don't mind. > Hello Mr.Gauranga Das, > > Hope all is well. I need bit of help as far as > ayanmasha is concerned. I am just curious what > has been your experience as far as ayanamsha is > concerned. With few past incidents can I work out what > works best for me. What do you suggest?? According to my experience, and aslo the teachings of my Guru, Pandit Sanjay Rath the Lahiri Ayanamsha is the most exact, altjough fro modern dates it may still be off for a couple of seconds. Until a more exact Ayanamsha is arrived at, this is recommended for use. Of course this is more a question of experimenting that a theoretic one, therefore I don;'t forbid my disciples to use other Ayanamshas if they prefer to. However, if you want to experiment, you should check positions of the planets in the D-charts with the two Ayanamshas, and try to make sense of the chart with both. As for year, I also use regular solar year, i.e. 365.2425 days long. For Rasi dasas, 360 deg. years can be used (i.e. sidereal year, in which the Sun traverses full 360 degrees in the zodiac). This is just a little bit longer than a normal solar year. Some astrologers propagate Savana years or even lunar years, but I haven't experimented with them.
