Guest guest
So does that mean having both lagna and moon vargottam tend to lead one to have highest course of dharma? This is not a sarcastic question; I realize that ofcourse there would have to be other factors supporting this quality but is the above one of the strong indicators of the same? Guest guest
Dear Partha and others, Lord Rama had lagna in Punarvasu. But Moon was not in Punarvasu. Rama was born on Sukla Navami tithi of Chaitra maasa. Sun was in Aries and Moon was ahead of Sun by an amount between 96 deg and 108 deg (that's the definition of Sukla Navami). Even assuming Sun was at 0 deg in Ar, Moon was between 6 deg and 18 deg in Cancer. Punarvasu ends at 3 deg 20 min in Cancer. Clearly, Moon was in Pushyami (or Asresha). May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha > dear friends > lord Rama had punarvaus nakshatra 4th quarter both for lagna and > moon. lagna and moon have to be vargottama in navamsa(the chart for > dharma). otherwise how would he be known for upholding highest course > of dharma? in comparison to sri rama's chart adi shnkaracharya had > his lagna lord moon in 12th. same charts only differenece is the fact > that for rama moon is in lagna with jupiter. for shankaracharya moon > is in 12th house. > regards > partha

Guest guest
Dear friends, Valmiki only said Sri Rama was born in the nakshatra ruled by Aditi (Punarvasu nakshatra). He did not say that Moon was in that nakshatra (nor did he say "in the _day_ ruled by nakshatra"). What is the meaning of a person being born in a nakshatra? Should it always refer to Moon's nakshatra? If lagna is stronger than Moon, won't lagna's nakshatra become more important? Sri Rama was born on Sukla Navami tithi with exalted Sun. So Moon can only be in Pushyami or Asresha. Period. Read my earlier post for the logic. He had lagna in Punarvasu nakshatra (4th quarter), closely conjoined by Jupiter. Lagna nakshatra was hence more important than Chandra nakshatra. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha > Dear PVN, > > You have a valid point. Guest guest
Dear friends, In the explanation i provided, Bharatha was born in pushya and his lagna is meena. So, the explanation on lagna nakshatra is not correct. Janma nakshatra always refers to moon and not based on which is stronger - moon or lagna. Please read my previous post on this. warm regards, Balaji S> --- pvr108 <pvr wrote: > Dear friends, > > Valmiki only said Sri Rama was born in the nakshatra > ruled by Aditi > (Punarvasu nakshatra). Guest guest
Dear Balaji, I did not say that janma nakshatra means lagna's nakshatra. In fact, Valmiki did not even use the term "janma nakshatra". He only said Rama was born in Punarvasu nakshatra. If Bharata's nakshatra mentioned by Valmiki was Moon's nakshatra, it does not mean so was Rama's. If somebody has a stronger Moon, Moon's nakshatra is the most important and used in Vimsottari dasa etc. We then say that the native is "born in" that nakshatra. OTOH, if somebody has a stronger lagna, lagna's nakshatra is the most important nakshatra and it is used in Vimsottari dasa etc. Then we may say that the native was born in that nakshatra. The nakshatra mentioned by Valmiki for Rama can be lagna nakshatra and the one mentioned for Bharata can be Chandra nakshatra. Because of the corruptions in astrological knowledge in Kali yuga (e.g. importance of lagna nakshatra and lagna Vimsottari dasa are forgotten), people take a simplistic interpretation of what Valmiki wrote. If one is born with exalted Sun on Chaitra Sukla Navami, he can NOT have Moon in Punarvasu. Period. Valmiki is a great sage and he cannot have miscalculated anything. Search for an alternative explanation. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha > Dear friends, > > In the explanation i provided, Bharatha was born in > pushya and his lagna is meena. Guest guest
Dear PVN, I am still going by MY BELIEF in punarvasu as his birth star (star which moon occupies). Guest guest
Namaste friends, Valmiki's expression 'naavamike tithou' has been interpreted by some to mean the day which has both ashtami and navami (ashtami at sunrise, navami at sunset), based on grammatical rules (use of thak pratyaya). I read this in Ramayana Rahasya Darshini authored by Sri Malladi Chandrasekhara Sastry in Telugu. In a different context, I have seen posts on this list about the interpretation of Lagnamsa vs Lagnamsaka, Karakamsa vs Karakamsaka. regards, Krishna. balaji srinivasan wrote: > Dear PVN, > > I am still going by MY BELIEF in punarvasu as his > birth star (star which moon occupies). Guest guest
JAYA JAGANNATHA! Dear Jyotisha, Namaste. > > Sri Rama was born on Sukla Navami tithi with exalted Sun. So Moon can > only be in Pushyami or Asresha. Period. Read my earlier post for the > logic.> I'm trying to approach the question from a different point of view. Sanjayji taught that Lagna Nakshatra will indicate the native's intelligence, while the Janma Nakshatra will indicate his mindset. If we assume that Rama's Lagna was in Punarvasu and Moon in Pushya, this I think is acceptable, as there's a lot of similarity between the two Nakshatras, while Aslesha is quite different. Let's see some of them: Nakshatra Symbol Deity Caste Guna Sex Gana Circle Punarvasu Bow Aditi Vaisya Sattva Male Deva Vayu Pushya Arrow Brihaspati Ksatriya Tamas Male Deva Agni Aslesha Snake Naga Outcaste Sattva Female Raksasa Varuna So according to my opinion, Punarvasu and Pushya are likely, however Aslesha not so much. So taking into consideration what Narasimha says, I would allow for the possibility that Lord Rama had Moon in Pushya Nakshatra, because He was a Kshatriya, although the Lagna in general would definitely indicate a brahmin. He was expert at using bows and arrows, and was confronted with the Tamas represented by Ravana. Agni Tattwa would also be nicely expressed in His lila of crossing over the ocean to get to Lanka. Soi I definitely think that Pushya Nakshatra has a chance to become His Janma Nakshatra, even if it's not as prominent as Punarvasu, which is stronger. Guest guest
Dear Gauranga, We should accept the traditional belief on Rama and not try to fit a new finding. Lord didn't burn up the ocean. If that is the case, then agni tattwa is fine. Actually he took the help of Hanuman in his leela of crossing the ocean who is the son of vayu. I am not trying to talk of vayu tattwa here and establish punarvasu. Rama has exalted Mars and that itself is enough to make him a good general. We need not look at star's caste to establish that. Let us forget our own theories and worship Rama. warm regards, Balaji S. --- Gauranga Das <gauranga wrote: > JAYA JAGANNATHA! > > Dear Jyotisha, > > Namaste. > > > > > Sri Rama was born on Sukla Navami tithi with > exalted Sun.
