Respected List members,

After a good lot of discussion on AV can we have some discussion on istha phala

and kashta phala? Can anybody give some thought on this - specially how these

are used for prediction.

Re: [vedic astrology] Re: ASHTAKAVARGA ANALYSIS - dear sailesh and list members

Dear Partha,

These charts were provided on this list by one of the members- so I thought you had access to them.

Secondly, what puzzles me is use of the word ' MINIMUM POINTS'. If this word is

correct, then none of the natives I listed should have got the prosperity that

they got.

Thirdly, no jyotish tool should be used 'SINGLY' - there are always riders,

'if's & 'but's - therefore we need to learn how to cross-check.

That is what I wanted from you - if one wants to follow SAV system, what are the

other tools, or aids available to him to cross-verify the 'readings'.

Please be rest assured - there was no intended or implied dis-belief or hostility .

dear saileshI do not want to say that the numbers are correct because i have

qouted them from classics. but they represent the minimum required to give

strenght to a chart an they are given down to us by great Parashara for

nothing, and i can explain what you are intending to ask.in general in sarva

ashtakavarga you can observe the followingif we have less than 25 points bad to

moderate results25-30 moderate to good results30 and above good results.first of

all you have not send the charts but send the ashtakavarga tables. that is not

the correct way isn't it. how will i know where is the lagna which is the main

house of the chart. to your query, see in general very few people get high

points for their houses.few thumb rulesa) never interpret ashtakavarga verbatim

as it appears.b) check for favourable combinations and also the strength of

planets.c) if a house gets less than minimum required then the person will have

to put in extra effort to attain the results of the house and he has to face

difficulties regarding the same house significaions.d) i would quote on good

example.11th house need not get 54 if it is found that it is getting more than

10th house(karma or exertion). The native would get more results from less

effort.i would quote my example. i am getting 39 points for 10th house , but

dear friend i am also getting 30 points for 11th house. what does it imply. i

would work very hard , make hundred posts then i would get some feedback and

appreciated. some may make a more diplomatic and better presentation would get

a better response because his 11th house may be getting more points thatn 10th

house. if 9th house gets a lot of points say 40. then even if he gets less

points for 10th and 11th would not be a serious problem. as god and luck are

Dear Dasgupta,

after the ishta and kashta are calulated the subhankas (aspicous points)

and asubhankas (inaspiscious points) are calculated. The subhankas are

calculated by considering the dignities in the saptvargas. IN the rasi a planet

in exaltation get 60 subhankas, in moolitrikona- 45, in own rasi- 30, in great

freinds rasi- 22, in friends rasi- 15, in neutrals rasi- 8, in enemies rasi- 4,

in great enemies rasi2, and in debilitation- 0. In the other vargas it is half.

THe asubhankas are calculted by subtracting the subhankas from 60 for the rasi,

and from 30 for the other vargas. There is a possibility of 240 subhankas.

Then the ishta is divided by 60 to get the fraction of Ishta, and this is

multiplied by the shadbala. This is then multiplied by the subhankas/240; in

other words divide the subhankas by 240 to get the fraction of subhankas and

multply this by the shadbala/ishta multiplication done previously. This final

figure gives the quantity of good effects that a planet can give.

SImilarly the kashta is divided by 60 andf multiplied by the shadbala, this is

then multiplied b y the asubhankas/240. This gives the quantitiy of bad effects

that a planet can give.

THen look at the planets possition, if it is indication good effects by yoga HOW

MUCH good is indicated by the Ishta/shadbla/subhankas as calculted. If the

planet is indicatind bad effectgs due to yoga, etc. then HOW MUCH bad is

indicated by the kashta/shadbala/asubankas as calculated.
