Guest guest
Dear Gurus Well, I have now browsed through all the texts published by Mr N Rao & Mr S Rath to date. Esp his latest Narayan Dasa book tried to be nattily simple & direct, specifically addressed to target dense-heads like me. The FAQ section was brilliant. Many many questions in my mind have become much clearer. However, as threatened earlier, I am attaching a revised list of pending queries, with the answered ones (by Mr Rath & others) removed, & a few new ones added. I hope someone can shed some light in my direction too: 1. Difference between occupying vs aspecting a house/ planet: Ref pg 428 CoVA: St occupying/ conjoining a house/ lord= DECREASES the longevity of the relevant signification of the house/ lord. BUT if St graha-aspects them (I suppose this holds true also for rasi-drishtis, but am not sure, esp with Mr Rath's new insight on Jp NOT causing the fall of nodes if it conjoins it & a few other nuggets in the new book, which will take me too much space to re-count), it INCREASES their longevity, as St is the natural significator for longevity. This opposite result between occupying & aspecting a house, is unclear. Visti: u have in one of your mails said all this too. So u may be able to throw some nuggets on this. 2. Difference for different significations of the same house, when being N houses away from it: DaraPada in 3/11 from AL= physical compatibility with partner, but bad for business prospects (why the difference in partner vs business?) ref pg 253 CoVA. Or: Ra/ Ke in 11= RajYoga & sudden gains in wealth respectively, but Ke in 11 also= bad friends. Why does Ke in 11 give good wealth (4/ 10 to/ from 2, 3/ 11 from/ to 9) but bad friends? 3. Natural friends/ enemies of planets X influencing houses represented by X by natural signification: a) Ref pg 235 CoVA: bad effect of Mc on Mn as Mn is v friendly to Mc, while Mc hates Mn. b) Ref Pg: 167 CoVA: Ve is natural enemy of Mn, so in 5, as is 2 from 4, is malefic to mother (4). But I thought that Mn has no enemies while the enemy of both Mc & Ve is Mn. c) Ma conjoin Lord of 2 in 11 (also then, aspects 2)= wealth, BUT speak late in childhood (as Mc= karaka of 2 for speech, & is natural enemy of Ma). d) Mc in 11= many friends, early gains, good marital relations, BUT disinterest in sex, as Ve (natural karaka of 7) is deb in Mc's sign, so Mc negates influence of Ve (NC: but Mc & Ve are supposed to be mutual friends?) 4. d-6: from JUPS: i) In d-6/11, ie Paryaya dasa, etc, Sign owned by Sthirkaraka doesn't kill that corresponding relative (shlok 3.3.122). Now, as per the Shool Dasa rules, sign occupied by sthir karaka DOES kill, while that occupied by chara karaka averts death. I know, one says owned, the other says occupied, but is this all correct? ii) Please ref JUPS 3.3.11 in particular, & a few shloks just prior to it: Comparing strength of signs to kill, in d-6 & d-11: In order of priority: a) Associated (mainly conjoined) with benefics= weaker, while with malefics = stronger. b) nature of sign: C>S>D. c) Aspect of benefics reduces strength. BUT for choosing maraka-signs within trines (eg which among Trishul signs), order of priority is c, then b - But unclear whether it is c, b, a (as Notes a few shloks prior, say Reverse) or a, then c, b, given shlok 3.3.117.2. 5. In CoVA chapter on 2nd house: planets/ house in 4 (probably as argala) from lord of 2 (probably as maraka) are weakened, eg L2 in 3= enemy (6) destroyed. Why? L2 will also argala other planets/ houses in 2/4/11/5/8 from it. Why only the 4th arg specifically? 6. Strength of signs/ planets: a) for calculating Arudhs & AK's effect on that: Ref pg 476 CoVA: between Ke & Ma, Ma had Sn conjoined to it, Ke had none. But as Ra was AK (so, strongest planet in chart), its counterpart Ke was chosen over Ma to calculate A10. Well, the AK rule was supposed to be meant only for AK related matters & dasas). b) Ref pg 33 Narayan Dasa book: Aq: Ra vs St: Ra chosen as St in own sign, but shd be actually because Jp asps node to cause its fall (see next). Sc: Ke vs Ma: Ma chosen even tho its dispositor Mc has lower longitude than Ke's dispositor Jp, as other rules till then finished, prob'ly as Jp asps Ke (but which, is not mentioned). c) Ref footnote on pg 42 Narayan Dasa book: for strength computations, only Ke's deg to be counted from end of syn (Not Ra's ????) 7. Jaimini strength rules in Narayan Dasa varga charts: we were earlier taught to use all the rules as applicable in the relevant varga chart, EXCEPT for the higher longitude one, where we were to refer to the d-1 chart, as vargas have no longitude. However, in query 15 of the FAQ in the Narayan Dasa book, for Ra vs St for Aq dasa in a varga chart, after all else fails, we should (by earlier knowledge) have checked the higher longitude one in the d-chart. However, Mr Rath mentions to use that yielding higher dasa yrs as vargas have no longitude. 8. In Bramha Dasa Sequence, the Initiation rule is: start from sign containing Bramha & proceed regular & in zodiacal order. If Bramha is in an even sign (whcih is very exceptional, ie only if ALL competing planets for Bramha are in even syns), it starts from 7 from Bramha. NOW, for AFTER thatfor Bramha being in the exceptional even sign: JUPS says: then progress in anti-zodiacal. Versus: Mr N Rao says: in either case (ie Bramha being in odd or even sign), proceed in regular zodiacal order. 9. In Ayur Dasas: Progression is supposed to be zodiacal vs anti-zodiacal if X is odd/ even. Now in some cases, X is refered to as being the Lg, & sometimes the Dasa Initiator. Now where the choice is 1 vs 7, as the oddity is the same it does not matter. But where it is 2/ 8 from Lg vs its 7 in Nirayan Shool, & other such cases eg where in Paryay the Initiator could be kendras to the Lg, etc, where the oddity of the Initiator is different from the Lg, what is the rule for Progression, ie based on the oddity of the Lg or that of the Initiator? 10. Planetary friendships for finance: In the chapter on the 9th house in CoVA, special friendship relations between planets is mentioned, to be used only for financial affairs. For the 9 planets, in week-day order followed by nodes, these are mentioned as: Jp, Mc/Jp, Mc/Ve, All except Sn, All except Ma, All except Sn & Mn, Mc/Jp/Ve, Mc/Jp/Ve/St & lastly for Ke= Sn/Mn. Then a table is provided for friend-signs for each of the 9 planets, which basically follow the above as per ownership by friends, WITH TWO EXCEPTIONS which is puzzling me: a) For Ra: Ta & Aq is missing. b) For Ke: Ar is added. Are these printing mistakes, or is there any particular reason? c) also in the age tabe there, an odd figure for St is 82: correct or printing mistake ? 11. MaranaKarakSthan: Mr Rath puts for St= 1, not 8, Ref p 71 of Narayan Dasa book. 12. Pachaki Sambandhi: Ve's karaka & vedhak are supposed to be Sun & Saturn respectively; however the new Narayan Dasa book by Mr Rath gives it as the opposite, ie St & Sn respectively. 13. Narayan Dasa: a) St/ Ke exception: In the Narayan Dasa book, Mr Rath now explicitly mentions in one of the queries in the FAQ at the end of the book, that both St & Ke exceptions apply, if the relevant planet (St/ Ke) occupies EITHER the antar Seed (ie stronger of major dasa sign or its 7th) OR the antar intiation= Arambh= lord of the antar seed (earlier, we were taught that it was applicable only if in the Seed). Thus, could I conclude that they DON'T apply for either the dasa or the antar progressions, if they are in the WEAKER OF Lg vs 7th for the dasa progression, & in the weaker of the major dasa sign vs its 7th in the antar progression. b) Ref p 317 CoVA: antar of Cp's MD fm 1993 when became President. Cn given as antar initiatn. But abv Rules: shd start fm Ar= syn occ by Mn= ld of Cn= stronger than Cp= maha dasa Seed: Some xcpns rel to Sn, Mn & Jp apply to abv Regards Nandan
