Guest guest
Dear Chandan In all this chaos of multiple e-mails, one may miss the step-by-step list of books I sent as a PS a few hours back. Here it is again: Many of u have asked many times about the order of reading astro-books at the initial stages. Having collected tomes n tomes, I reco the following order, with the best books in each stage, rather than the oft-simply-repeated list of BV Ramans: 1. Stage 1: Interest stage: HAS to give u adequate INTEREST; u WILL lose interest if u start with the Raman primers which are thin/ undaunting, but cover too much & too briefly without immediate application. So instead: read Linda Goodman's Sun-signs. Follow up with M E Jones' Guide to horoscopic interpretation (on basic planetary patterns). To clarify initial doubts that astro cd work (which cd otherwise, due to cynicism, hamsring u for life, for a long time) read all 3 of M Gauquelin's works which are scientific works & statistical attempts 2. Palmistry : Most people parallelly start this related field. So, FIRST all of N Jaquin's works (or atleast these 3: Scientific Palmistry, Signature of Time- aka Secrets of Handreading, & The Human Hand- aka Practical Palmistry), Hast Samudrik Shastra- KC Das, Key to your future- KAN Iyer (out of print), Laws of Scientific hand reading (WG Benham), then u cd proceed to RG Rao's difficult works. Bunk all the rest. 2. Stage 2: Astronomy & charting basics: Casting the horoscope, ie book 1 by KS Krishnamurthy 3. Stage 3: Primary coverage: Light on Life- H DeFeow. Keep by your side for reference & practise-application: a) Raman's Notable Horoscopes, & b) Raman's 300 imp combinations 4. Stage 4: Comprehensive primary coverage: read both parallelly: a) Mr N Rao's Vedic Astrology- an integrated approach, & b) BV Raman's How to Judge a horoscope (in 2 vols). 5. Basic References to keep after above stage: BPHS, Saravali, UttarKalamrita, Phaladeepika. Forget the rest at this stage. Later on, may add Jataka Parijat, Hora Sara, BrihatJatak. After that, there are tomes n tomes endlessly on various general & special astro-topics 6. By then, u will know what to read, in terms of Jaimini (Mr Rath's books), Nadi (RG Rao's), Nakshatras (Behari's Myths & symbols- out of print), Medical astrology (KS Charak), etc etc. Mr N Rao's VAIP is so comprehensive that u wd by then, anyway have the key elements of most aspects of astrology Pl note that while I have tomes, i'm personally roughly in stage 3 in my learning Best of Luck Nandan
Guest guest
Hare Rama Krsna Dear Nandan! Great job! Keep going.... You got the nice name of books in your list.... why don't you make a file having review of these books and post to the vedic astrology files section. This can be updated too... or otherwise these names can also be maintained in the database, having the fields of Book Name, Author Name, Recommended for which level of student. This would of of great help in times to come and you need not repeat your effort... For Palmistry, I shall add the name of St. Germane...(good for Chiromancy) All BV Raman's Books are worth reading... I would also recommend Funamentals of Vedic astrology for both beginners and advanced students....
