Matsya yoga - astrologer combination

Dear Zoran,

I understand now, Sani as karaka of time, and Ketu as precision

equipment such as watches, and nano-robots. The relation with jyotish

comes through mathematical precision, rather than time.

I have taken a look at the Matsya yoga, as that is the only other

reference to combinations for jyotishis in BPHS, and was considering

posting it, but was unsure about it:

"ch. 36 sl.21-22. Benefics in the 9th and the 1st house, mixed

planets in the 5th house and malefics in the 4th and the 8th house:

this array of planets at birth will produce Matsya Yoga. In effect,

the native will be a Jyotishi, be a synonym of kindness, be virtuous,

strong, beautiful, famous, learned, and pious."

I was wondering as to its application, due to the number of houses,

and I see you have explained it very logically by making reference to

Sanjay's chart.

3 conditions:

1) Benefics in the 1st or 9th or both,

2) malefics in the 4th or 8th or both,

3) at least one malefic and benefic in the 5th

But why these groups of houses in particular? Perhaps a benefic in

the 1st, 9th makes the person follow proper dharma.

The 5th house is the primary house of divination. Perhaps both

malefics and benefics here give a more comprehensive view on things.

Most other texts require the 5th house to have benefic influence

only. What do you think the reason for malefic inclusion is?

The 4th and 8th are moksha trikona. But why not the 12th? There must

be another reason. The 4th and 8th are the "chaturasra" houses. I

have no understanding as to the meaning of this. Is there any

relation that you know of?

This is a puzzling yoga, an explanation would do wonders. Also due to

the number of factors, getting a pure Matsya yoga would be difficult.

Do you think aspects can also be considered?

best regards,

Alex J
