Is saturn really a malefic?

Why does nearly every book and astrologer state that

Shani is a malefic? I personally have seen that Shani

is a generous giver (when he decides to give) and he

improves the issues related to the house in which he

is posited (there is a shlok in regard to this which

says that Jupiter spoils the place where he sits and

Shani enhances it). I feel that Shani tests the native

with regard to the house in which he sits and if the

native sticks to his principles through thick and thin

then Shani gives like no one else does. Shouldn't we

realise this rather than declare Shani a malefic and

fear him, when we should rather respect him?

Dear Anand!

Shani is considered malefic for many reasons. On the first hand it indicate

lots of trouble for the native. Actually Shani is a great purifier, it

purifies the native by taking him through some of the most tough times.

Wherever Shani casts his aspect, he delays the fructification of the

indication of the house; this is another reason. During 7.5 years if

Sade-sati the native has some most difficult experiences of his lifetime. We

needn't fear any planet as all of them in our spiritual realisation from

material to spiritual. This is again a perspective, for a spiritual

person, material possession is of no value and hence he wouldn't suffer with

the lack of material possession, however, for a materials person the same

instance would cause a lot of pain.

All the best

Dear Anand,

All the Devas are souls assigned that role in the

Manvantras by supreme.

Sani controls Time and Destiny and punishes for the

mistakes. He is like the post man delivering the

letters. He humbles the mighty and lifts up the

humble.

He rules the past and things that are do with the

wastages are again ruled by him.

If Sani is aspected by Good planets like Jupiter he

does help. Aspect of malefics like Mars and Sun can

give problems.

In fact, when remedies are done it should be done with

a reverential attitude - we don't know what karma led

us to the suffering, atleast we should think of not

doing mistakes.

In Puranas it is said a soul that is good will see

Yama as a good person while a person who did bad after

death sees him fearful.

A person who has become a Bhagawatha need not fear any

devata as he is already on the right path.

Fear of the Lord is beginning of the wisdom. But, more

understanding leads to love for god.

warm regards,

Balaji S.

Dear Anand,

Shani, gives the maximum malific points in the Ashtavarga, hence its

malific. On the Same token Jupiter contributes the maximum benefic

points and hence its benefic. In the similar way you can check for

other planets.

Thanks,

Cheers !!!

You bring up an excellent point.

Your sentiments are shared by other astrologers (some of them who are

really very good but have no desire for recognition and prefer to stay in

obscurity; it seems they are yogis in the sense they recognize their

gifts/powers and are content merely with the knowledge and their sense of

duty). Sorry cannot expand.

However, will state that there are many powerful tidbits are guarded

closely among some traditional Jyotishi families. Occasionally, some may

come forth and share some of them. Other times, some other renowned

astrologers may get wind of the technique (formula) but without really

completely understanding it. They may formulate hypothesis around these

formulas which may or may not be accurate or appeal to everyone. However,

the formula should still work -- it is upto the individual to make the

choice to use or not use the same.....

Saturn provides the greatest Karmic power. Without any disrespect to

Jupiter (because I too think it is very important to have Jupiter's

knowledge; it makes life so much more simpler), the Karma shakti can

provide equal results in deed and accomplishments. To support this

statement, I'll refer you to the story of Eklavya from Mahabharat.

Best Regards,

SA

Hello Aileena, Sade Sati is the term used for when Saturn transits the

house before in and after the Moon in the natal chart. Sally
