Guest guest
Dear All I had consolidated a list of 13 queries after reading CoVA & sent to the List. Mr Rath (ie the author, & the Guru of our List, etc) himself has found the time to answer the first 4 of them. For everyone's benefit, I am enclosing the original queries along with his replies which are in capitals. Given the current context of world affairs, Mr Rath's otherwise busy schedule, & the plan of BPHS translation exercise ( I really hope that happens), could I request somebody else knowledgeable, to please find the time to answer the remaining questions. Incidentally, regarding BPHS translation, I really hope he can find the time & resources to do it: I'm sure most of us could & would contribute. But more importantly, we need to know the total amount required, as many of us are in industry & specifically in finance, & may know others outside this List, who may wish to contribute for such an important exercise. Some of us may also be in/ know publishers, etc, & may be able to organise advances from them for such an exercise, etc. Queries: (Note all abbreviations in previous message have been flushed out & expanded in this one below): 1. Ghatak Rasi: I HAVE COVERED IT IN THE APPENDIX IN MY NEW BOOK ON NARAYANA DASA 2. Order of timing/ results from the three 1/3rds of a dasa (in BOTH Vim & Narayan, I presume). The orders are: a) Pg 233: i) Rasi, ii) Planets affecting Rasi, iii) its Lord (& planets affecting Ld). Qualifications: 1) among planets affecting same 1/3, NBs affect before NMs, 2) If dasa-rasi is prishto/ shirso/ ubhaya dayas, its effect is in last/ 1st/ midl rspcvly. BUT in the example on the same page, order is ii), iii), i), based on Aq being a mlfc syn (tho, being shirsodaya, it shd be 1st) Pg 157: (direction of travel from Narayan Dasa): i), iii), ii, both in the rule & example there. GENERALLY, THE DASAS TEND TO GIVE THE MALEFIC RESULTS TOWARDS THE END. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT PRINCIPLE. LIST OUT THE RESULTS YOU EXPECT FROM (A) SIGN (B) LORD AND © ASPECTS. PREDICT THE GOOD ONES FIRST AND THEN THE BAD ONES. THIS IS SIMPLER TO DO: I will read your new book (Narayan Dasa) when it arrives, & then may ask you about this again if I am still not clear (Any particular pages where it appears there?). 3. The natural maturation ages of planets I have in my astro-notes in weekday order are: 22, 24, 28, 32, 16 (for Jp), 25, 36, & 48 for the nodes. The years ruled by Jp in your 9th house chapter of CoVA is primary= 33, 34, secondary= 24, 56. But in many examples in CoVA, Jp's results are said to be fulfilled at age 30. Which does not match EITHER set of age categories, which is why my confusion. Are my notes on natural maturation ages wrong for all planets, or only Jp?: PRINTERS DEVIL. JP IS 30 & MC IS 34. 4. The planetary aspect of the 7th: a) CoVA Chapter on the Lagna: Sn in/ aspecting/ argalaing 1= good moral character/ happy disposition etc (obviously unless afflicted, when= bad for Sn-related diseases, pride, etc). This is apparently based on the concept that the Sn is in/ aspecting its own natural karaka house (Lagna). b) But in pgs 254- 257 for the 7th house: virtually all Natural Benefics (NBs) in 7 are interpreted as being good for the spouse/ marriage but BAD for the self, as they are in 7 to Lg. Also, the Sn in 7 (as it aspects 1)= BAD character (opposite to Sn being IN Lg, ref the above, which was supposed to be good character). So there is a contradiction between the 2 chapters which I could not resolve in my mind, & I tried to rationalise that the 7th aspect is a developmental square (ie Vishnu= kendra vs ease= Lakshmi= kon) but am not happy about that interpretation either, for the difference. HERE THE ASPECT IS RASI DRISHTI. SUN IN SEVENTH IS NOT GOOD. THIS IS A KSHETRA OF VENUS WHO IS THE CAUSE OF ITS DEBILITY JUST LIKE A KING FALLS BECAUSE OF HIS VICES AND WOMEN (BOTH SEXES MEANT HERE!!). ANY PLANET HERE IS NOT GOOD. SEE THE RESULTS GIVEN BY PARASARA UNDER VIMSOTTARI DASA FOR PLANETS IN 7TH..INVARIABLY MRITUNJAYA. 5. Similar query as previous one. Ref pg 428 CoVA: St occupying/ conjoining a house/ lord= decreases the longevity of the relevant signification of the house/ lord. BUT if St graha-aspects them (I suppose this holds true also for rasi-drishtis), it INCREASES their longevity, as St is the natural significator for longevity. This opposite result between occupying & aspecting a house, is unclear. 6. Being in N houses away: DaraPada in 3/11 from AL= physical compatibility with partner, but bad for business prospects (why the difference?) ref pg 253 CoVA. Or: Ra/ Ke in 11= RajYoga & sudden gains in wealth respectively, but Ke in 11 also= bad friends. Why does Ke in 11 give good wealth (4/ 10 to/ from 2, 3/ 11 from/ to 9) but bad friends? 7. Natural friends/ enemies of planets X influencing houses represented by X by natural signification: a) Ref pg 235: bad effect of Mc on Mn as Mn is v friendly to Mc, while Mc hates Mn. b) Ref Pg: 167: Ve is natural enemy of Mn, so in 5, as is 2 from 4, is malefic to mother (4). But I thought that Mn has no enemies while the enemy of both Mc & Ve is Mn. OTOH, in the chapter on children, Jp's enemies are Mc/ Ve, so they hassle fertility, which matches with the standard natural friendship tables that I have from traditional texts. c) Ma conjoin Lord of 2 in 11 (also then, aspects 2)= wealth, BUT speak late in childhood (as Mc= karaka of 2 for speech, & is natural enemy of Ma), normally till end of 1st Narayan Dasa. d) Mc in 11= many friends, early gains, good marital relations, BUT disinterest in sex, as Ve (natural karaka of 7) is deb in Mc's sign, so Mc negates influence of Ve (NC: but Mc & Ve are supposed to be mutual friends?) 8. d-6: from JUPS: i) In d-6/11, ie Paryaya dasa, etc, Sign owned by Sthirkaraka doesn't kill that corresponding relative (shlok 3.3.122). Now, as per the Shool Dasa rules, sign occupied by sthir karaka DOES kill, while that occupied by chara karaka averts death. I know, one says owned, the other says occupied, but is this all correct? ii) Please ref JUPS 3.3.11 in particular, & a few shloks just prior to it: Comparing strength of signs to kill, in d-6 & d-11: In order of priority: a) Associated (mainly conjoined) with benefics= weaker, while with malefics = stronger. b) nature of sign: C>S>D. c) Aspect of benefics reduces strength. BUT for choosing maraka-signs within trines (eg which among Trishul signs), order of priority is c, then b - But unclear whether it is c, b, a (as Notes a few shloks prior, say Reverse) or a, then c, b, given shlok 3.3.117.2. 9. In chapter on 2nd house: planets/ house in 4 (probably as argala) from lord of 2 (probably as maraka) are weakened, eg L2 in 3= enemy (6) destroyed. Why? L2 will also argala other planets/ houses in 2/4/11/5/8 from it. Why only the 4th arg specifically: again, 4 is a Vishnu development aspect by Wn astro, but is that what is being considered here? 10. Mandook Dasa initiation in d-11: a) JUPS : Lg or its Adars, whichever is odd. b) CoVA: 11th house, whether odd or even. 11. Strength of signs for calculating Arudhs & AK's effect on that: Ref pg 476 CoVA: between Ke & Ma, Ma had Sn conjoined to it, Ke had none. But as Ra was AK (so, strongest planet in chart), its counterpart Ke was chosen over Ma to calculate A10. Well, this does go in the face of VAIP rules, as the AK rule in JUPS was supposed to be meant mainly for AK related matters (longevity dasas, health, AK related dasas, etc). 12. In Bramha Dasa Sequence, the Initiation rule is: start from sign containing Bramha & proceed regular & in zodiacal order. If Bramha is in an even sign (whcih is very exceptional, ie only if ALL competing planets for Bramha are in even syns), it starts from 7 from Bramha. NOW, for AFTER thatfor Bramha being in the exceptional even sign: JUPS says: then progress in anti-zodiacal. Versus: Mr N Rao says: in either case (ie Bramha being in odd or even sign), proceed in regular zodiacal order. 13. In Ayur Dasas: Progression is supposed to be zodiacal vs anti-zodiacal if X is odd/ even. Now in some cases, X is refered to as being the Lg, & sometimes the Dasa Initiator. Now where the choice is 1 vs 7, as the oddity is the same it does not matter. But where it is 2/ 8 from Lg vs its 7 in Nirayan Shool, & other such cases eg where in Paryay the Initiator could be kendras to the Lg, etc, where the oddity of the Initiator is different from the Lg, what is the rule for Progression, ie based on the oddity of the Lg or that of the Initiator?
