Guest guest
Namaste, I am feeling that maybe this list is a little too advanced for me. While I feel I could probably understand the concepts that are being discussed, I am not up on all of the terms. As a community service to this list, if anybody wants to volunteer to create a glossary of terms they think might need interpretation, I would appreciate it, and maybe a few other people listening in would too. Regardless, I am going to grin and bear it and hopefully pick up a few gems of information. Also, does anybody have any basic books or resources to recommend that would compliment my studies with Frawley? Thank you all for sharing! I have recently begun studying Vedic Astrology, during the Saturn period of my seemingly endless Venus Dosha (Dasa?), as Doug has pointed out. Doug, thank you for all of your insights! Yes, I think maybe my Moon helps not by strengthening Mars but by surrounding me with an aura of devotion and loving support. If anything, it may be my Mercury (& Sun?) that is trying to act as my Mars. I tend to move fast and frenetically at times without real effect on the world, or only the effect of causing my nerves to burn out! Regarding my mother, she does have psychological problems (my opinion), though she is a completely functional woman with a great deal of responsibility running a successful child care facility at a state university. She was adopted and she suspects that her birth time is incorrect, maybe by days, so it is hard for me to be scientific about it. I have drawn what I think may be her chart, or something close. She was also molested as a child, and I feel I may have inherited some of her fears and wounds surrounding sex. You can see that in my chart? Is that from the Moon? Please be specific, so I can learn. Mostly, I just think that she worries too much, sometimes to the point of making things up in her head. She exhibits signs of high vata and vata derangement, as do I. Sorry to talk about my chart and my own mother so much. I am honestly trying to learn astrology and not just get a "free" reading, but at this early stage in my studies I learn much faster looking at charts of people I know, mostly myself. I would love to get a real reading, though. Doug, any information you have about astrologers in my area (New York City?) or even long-distance services, your own included, would be great. I will try to be careful during this Mars/Ketu aspect. Is it occuring conunct the Center of the Galaxy, or somewhere in Mula? That sounds like it could have profound effects on us all! It is a good time for me to practice slowing down and being mindful, as I have found that is the biggest lesson with all of this Mars/Saturn business. But a mindful channeling of Mars is a great idea. Times in my life when I had a regular practice of yoga or tai chi have been very empowering for me. That is Saturn helping me out with Mars, right? To Narasimha & Sanjay Rath, thank you so much for your replies. I feel honored to have such a reknowned astrologer reply to my ignorant question. Mostly I was just trying to get a conversation started so that I can advance my own learning. I am very interested in lunar astrology, but any avenue that I can actively engage in is useful. Narasimha, I will look at your lesson regarding the horas and planetary cycles, and see if I have any questions. I understand now that Sanjay Rath was saying the website's depiction of what the ancient Hindus did was far-fetched, not the concept itself. I still think the concept is interesting, even if it is not based on ancient practices. Just to clarify: Vedic astrology is older than the Hindu religion, is that correct? And the system of 27 Nakshatras is older than the 12-sign zodiac? Would love more information on the history and evolution of these systems. Guest guest
Hi David, I replied to your message by clicking on your bluerodent e-mail, but bein new to this experience, I don't know if it went directly to you. If you didn't receive it, reply here, and I'll do a regular reply. In either event, this Mars/Ketu conjunction is very difficult, especially since you have it in your chart. best, doug vedic astrology, "blue rodent" <bluerodent@h...> wrote: > Namaste, > > I am feeling that maybe this list is a little too advanced for me.
