I stressed this point many times in the past. Those who read translations of Puranas may think that an issue is as unambiguously stated in Puranas as it is in the translation they are reading. But that is not always true. For example, you once quoted a verse from a Purana that, as per Srila Prabhupada's translation, belittled Shiva's worship compared to Vishnu's. As per my interpretation, it unambiguously states that it is a sin to distinguish between the two. So it's not so simple to say that "sastras support me". Just because the translation you possess makes things seem very clear, don't assume they are. If they were, you wouldn't have so many saints with differing views. If a saint read the same literature you did and came up with a different interpretation of things, you should respect it. Rejecting him because you think your understanding of sastras is ultimate is unreasonable and closed-minded. The belligerance with which some people belonging to one spiritual school reject other spiritual schools today is in direct contrast with the open-minded and infinitely flexible approach usually associated with Hinduism, Upanishats and Darsanas. I want this to be the last word on this matter and suggest getting on with astrology. As a general rule, this list is for discussing astrology. However, some topics related to spirituality are relevant to astrology are acceptable. Certainly topics like karma and purushardha are welcome here. However, I want learned people like Gauranga and Satya to live together on this list and respect each other without attacking the foundations of the other's spiritual school. Because this particular thread hit a dead end now, I request everyone to stop this discussion. Everyone has already expressed their views and it is upto the readers to accept one or the other. I will NOT appreciate further discussion on this topic here. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha List Administrator
