Guest guest
Hello Again, I congratulate you for wanting to learn to cast charts by hand. Yes, it is tedious at first but it carries many rewards. Computer programs too are great, once you know what to expect. The main advantage of doing charts by hand is the knowledge you will gain along with the ability to spot if a computer chart is wrong. I appreciate this question as it's been a while since I did a chart by hand and it's good to keep in practice. OK, lets start. I do not have a Raman ephmeris but that's OK. You will just have to provide some information from it. One way of casting a chart is to use Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) as a standard reference point. This allows us to cast charts for anywhere in the world once we can plot where the planets are located, based on the equivalent of the local time to GMT. The first information we require will be the latitude (degrees north or south of the equator)and longitude (degrees east or west of Grennwich) of your place of birth, followed by the local time of your birth. There is a formula which will convert the longitude into degrees and minutes of space. The formula is: One degree of space is equivalent to four (4) minutes of time. As an example: If your birth place was 120 degrees west of Greenwich you would multiply 120 degrees of space X 4 minutes of time to get an answer of 480. Now we must convert the 480 minutes of space into time. This is done by dividing 60 (there are 60 minutes in one hour) into 480. Once this is done we get the answer of 8 hours. Therefore we can say this imaginary place of birth will be 8 hours behind GMT since we are going west. If, we were looking for the distance between GMT and 120 degrees east of GMT we would be able to say the time at the place of birth would be 8 hours ahead of GMT.
