Guest guest
Namaste Sarajit, You are saying that as souls, we have the "choice" (in some abstract sense of the word) to take either a male or a female birth. This is based on our 'vasanas', or tendencies. First off, I can ask you how you "know" this to be true. This is what we "believe". There is a danger in stating things we have "heard" and we "believe" as things we "know". But we will let that pass... You are saying that "souls" choose a male or female birth, based on what they want to experience. Even granting this to be valid, this does not explain why they would choose different times of birth as well. It would be very brave of you to assert that at a given instant when a male child was born in a huge city like Mumbai, a female child was not being born a few streets, or localities away! Also, assuming a soul has prior knowledge of what sex it "wants" to be born as, and what life-experiences it wants to have, it would be very difficult to explain female infanticide. *Why* would a soul "choose" to be born as a female when it knows........ I don't want to complete the rest (it would get graphic, and crude). I remain, Mahalinga Iyer
Guest guest
Namaste Mahalinga, My answers are as follows... > Namaste Sarajit, > > You are saying that as souls, we have the "choice" (in some abstract > sense of the word) to take either a male or a female birth. This is > based on our 'vasanas', or tendencies. Right. We take birth according to our inherent tendencies. However, we don't have choice in true sense, this is decided by the divine law which guide our birth according to our tendencies. (This is like, if a child has a artistic calibre, the father of the child decides to put him in a art school, however, the child doesn't decide to enroll himself to the art school) > > First off, I can ask you how you "know" this to be true. This is > what we "believe". There is a danger in stating things we have > "heard" and we "believe" as things we "know". But we will let that > pass... I have studies Indian Phylolophy and many buddhist texts and also texts written by HH Srila Prabhupada and Vivekananda. My arguements are based on principles enunciated by them. However, it is true that I can't validate it unless I am an realised soul. For the timebeing I trust the validity of these texts. > You are saying that "souls" choose a male or female birth, based > on what they want to experience. Even granting this to be valid, > this does not explain why they would choose different times of > birth as well. It does explain. No two boy and Girl have the same horoscope. There are specific time at a place when only girl child can be born and some other time when boys can be born. This can be seen while rectifying a birth chart with different techniques (Though this is still a grey area). If this is not true, determining the sex of the individual is not possible on the basis of horoscope. > It would be very brave of you to assert that at a given instant > when a male child was born in a huge city like Mumbai, a female > child was not being born a few streets, or localities away! The level of precesion I am taking about, no two individual can have the same time of birth which could make their divisional charts upto shathyamsa, the same. The above mentioned point also appplies here. > Also, assuming a soul has prior knowledge of what sex it "wants" > to be born as, and what life-experiences it wants to have, it > would be very difficult to explain female infanticide. *Why* would > a soul "choose" to be born as a female when it knows........ > I don't want to complete the rest (it would get graphic, and crude). The birth one takes is the result of the tendencies one has, the situations one gets in (lets say infenticide in this case) is the result of one's past karma. One doesn't have choise whether to pass through the situations or not. Moreover, as I said, one doesn't have the choice to be born as a female, the devine law decides it according to his tendencies. Please keep your queries posting. Regards Sarajit > I remain, > > Mahalinga Iyer
